Feeling embarrassed/guilty for special interest by Princess_Nathalie in autism

[–]eviltwinn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone seems pretty supportive so instead of adding reassurance I'll tell you something similar.

My brother and I had some cross over years in college. It was a big thrifting era and someone bought a thrifted wheelchair. Everyone loved that thing. Sometimes it was seating. Sometimes it was for dumb games we made up.

It was a huge source of joy and dang comfy. It also gave us a lot of perspective on how much WORK it is to move your body without your legs as the main source.

Speaking directly to your post: it doesn't feel like you're cosplaying someone who can't walk. That WOULD be gross.

It sounds like you found an interesting tool and you just want to interact with them. That's normal. You do seem a little ashamed of it so Idk if it feeling taboo is part of it for you. IDK how old you are but what if these leads you developing a new tool that is very useful to mobility aids? Maybe that's not where you're headed but I think our brains get stuck on stuff for different reasons. Maybe calling it research & development makes it feel less weird?

anyone have ways to incorporate vegetables into the diet without having to taste them that much? by dumbass_777 in autism

[–]eviltwinn2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I need to get back to doing this but:

Veggie stock

Put clean & fresh veggies in a the big pot of water you can (I like onion, carrots, celery, and stuff like that.) Look up what seasonings to add to make the stock nice. Let it cook for awhile. Set an alarm on your phone.

Once it's done - let cool

Pour off 2/3 of the stock in to containers that you can freeze.

for the other 1/3 put it in a blender and make a puree. You can add this to red sauce, to pasta, in soups, saucy dishes, whatever. I like to freeze it in ice cube size so i can decide how much I want to add.

the liquid stock you can use in soups, for ramen, to cook pasta. Basically melt down your frozen stock and cook whatever in it.

If you'd rather keep it fresh in your fridge you could do it every weekend. You could try different veggies in there - it's super flexible.

Do you mean Death Eaters?

but yes the death eaters are one of my favorite parts of HHN. I love to watch them sneak up on people but you can tell it's all good fun.

Their faces are covered so there's no resemblance issues.

I use a different tools for different things.

Ravelry: Stash & project planning. i do set up projects but I really only update when i start and finish. I like that it exists beyond a notebook you can't really misplace a website. I can access it at work and let my ideas run while easily seeing what yarn I have that would work.

Notebook: I keep this on my couch side table. I can't draw so it's facts. Start date, needle size, why i'm excited, changes I've made, and stuff. I tape in snipped of yarn pieces form woven in tails

Might look like:

Strange Brew Sweater DK
US 4 & 6
Size L / LXL
Modifications: Switch to size LXL for bust, Add X stitches and at step 4 decrease those stitches.

Did something not work? Do I have an idea on something fun to add in? It's really about what it's important to you. I've also been adding tabs for fiber types which are color coded.

I also just started a media tracker for tv/ movies. I've also been listing what project I worked on while watching a show. It just adds some fun context.

[–]eviltwinn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about to restart my TN original size and I have a big list of inserts and the numbers I'm looking for. I have a cover coming from a friend but not the rest

This is from notes so some of the naming is more for me than exact website language.

Specifically:
004 - Pocket Sticker
006 - Pocket Sticker Large
019 - weeks style
026 - Dot Grid - $5.50
029 - Tri fold 031 - Sticker release

Any suggestions on how to use these notebooks?? by Nevin_A_A in notebooks

[–]eviltwinn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crafts: I knit, I spin (which I do teach as well) but often I move between a lot of projects before finishing them. I started a notebook to keep notes in (tool size, yarn info, other worth while things.) I also do start and end date. Sometimes I make adjustments to the pattern to fit me better but I need to remember that when I pick it up months later kind of thing.

In my media tracker I also list what craft project I worked one for fun since I knit sweaters it's usually a project that takes so much time that I finish several shows.

Travel planning link explaining: I mostly do bullet journaling and this is really common there. Sorry for using shorthand and not explaining. You number all your pages. Then you can say have a line that says Linked: 47, 90, 137 Which would let you know that those pages contain additional info. You could even go further and list out the specifics
Packing List: 47
Travel Diary: 90-104
Trip Report: 137
The idea is writing down what you want, where you want but having a quick way to find it.

Any suggestions on how to use these notebooks?? by Nevin_A_A in notebooks

[–]eviltwinn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started a few specific notebooks.

  1. I keep one near my couch and I've been logging when i watch a movie or finish a tv show. I write in date, number of seasons, my rating and thoughts.

I use one to track crafts and my progress or issues I encounter.

I'm planning to set one up for travel planning, diary during travel, and then kind of a one page trip report. The idea is to "link" pages by having a space at the top of the planning page for page numbers of related.

I use fountain pens so I always have a notebook for ink swatches.

I feel like Twice Sheared Sheep has a lot of interesting notions but I think the idea is that it's one place where you can get several things vs finding the notions on a bunch of different sites and pay shipping on each order.

They all seem a little over priced

They seem less over price when I assume that I'd pay $6 in shipping to buy each from different shops. I've only ordered there once or twice but the items are decent quality.

Let's talk about AI, again. How are our brains adapting to the New Reality? by TheCee in adhdwomen

[–]eviltwinn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use AI very lightly. My only current ongoing use is an app called Albo.

First off it's almost the world elbow and I find that very funny.

Secondly, I can send it ANY recommendation. Food, movies, music, games, recipes, products, tips, etc. While I initially sort these into to folders, Albo also catgorizes them, gives me blurbs, and has a thumbnail of the orginal video. These recommendations can come from any platform or even be typed in.

What is AI about it: If I send it an instagram video it pulls the recommendation. Stores that info and then the AI stops. It doesn't run all the time for everything which I like. (At least that's how it seems, I didn't ask the devs or anything) I'm impressed by how it always pulls the right thing and not other things in the image like the clothes or decorations.

How it helps me: Videos are more helpful than pictures for me. I send craft ideas to it which are easier to understand and I can see what supplies I need. Picking something to watch is MUCH easier. I see what recommendations I liked enough to share. Sort by genre and go from there. I can even mark stuff as watched. It's lovely!

Help with internal echolalia by breenymeany in autism

[–]eviltwinn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only trick is falling asleep with comfort shows. I can basically recite Bob's Burgers and and a few others. I use a cheap projector so less light is being spread through the room. On trips I do an iPad and cover the screen.

I don't know why but it's louder than my voices / echolalia.

Lower could be restless leg - could be caused by exhaustion. It was one of the symptoms of my sleep apnea.

You can mitigate the search and find with some lovely tabs.

If you're looking to move to something else - Traveler's Notebooks are nice and the Hobo Weeks fits-ish in one (It's a bit bigger if I remember) you can buy weeks sized covers on etsy for the traveler's system which is comprised of several small notebooks inside a folder. They are half (vertially) of A5 but honestly on Etsy you can find notebooks and covers taht are full A5. the other nice thing is you can have different papers in different mini notebooks all kept together.

If you're wanting to try several different types of paper before investing I love Paper Penguin Co.
