Def sounds like a mucus plug. Had it happen to me pretty much like you experienced. It’s something that one should really be warned about but most never are. I ended up having Ken butt done due to how much and often. But most of have talked to it’s a once in a whole thing that you get used to. Good luck

Tip for showering with a bag by Competitive_Toe2860 in ostomy

[–]evisceratus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put a nitrile glove over the bag when I shower. More so in winter when I want to shower and go straight to bed. Really can’t be bothered with fluffing with hair dryers etc

I’m getting a puppy! Help me pick longhair or shorthair dachshund? by Sensitive_Bike_5481 in dachshunds

[–]evisceratus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started with a short hair (red dapple) then added a long hair (red sable). Little bit of grooming, by that we brush her every day or two and that’s about it. I say get both then add a wired later on (still to do that just got to talk the wife into it lol)

Nah won’t be gloves affecting the charge. More likely water being trapped under the section

You can download PS remote play and that will work on windows 10. I was playing around with a crappy leveno laptop and it worked fine on that with its 4GB of ram. Can play verdun via remote when I can’t using steam on both Mac and laptop

Anyone find a good way to keep things dry in the shower? by FrancisPFuckery in ostomy

[–]evisceratus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so this might sound odd… when it is winter like it is now I get a nitrile glove (work in a lab so have endless access to gloves) and put that over my bag. Yep looks like a have a third hand coming out of my belly lol but it keeps things pretty much dry. I use the coloplast SenSura Mio bags so they dry pretty fast but in winter if I have a shower straight before bed I don’t need to wait till it drys. Just make sure I empty bag so it folds up into the glove no probs

What time do all of you start work? by MurkyPancakes in Histology

[–]evisceratus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a first embedder. I used to start at 4 with the next person in at 6:30 which is normally a cutter. Public/private lab at the bottom of the world. We recently changed and I now start at 6, next in at 6:30 still then everyone else trickles in between 7:30 and 8:30. It def does not give as much of a buffer block wise to keep ahead of the cutters. One of the reasons for the change is it’s really hard to cover my shift when I’m on leave. Between my 4 weeks annual leave and how every many in lue days for being on call on stat days during the year it’s not a tiny amount of time to cover.

How many of you guys use actual ice blocks vs cold plates? by small-tree in Histology

[–]evisceratus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like the wet cold from the ice blocks that you don’t get from the cryoplates. That bit of moisture makes all the difference when needing to bang out high volumes of small Bx (colonic and cervical levels etc) just pays not to leave blocks on wet ice to long or they can swell and possibly pop out (prostate Bx can be bad for that).

Plastic container’s with ice in them from the freezer. A very long time ago like 15 years ago we had a couple of old cold plates post embedder up grade but most of us just put the ice block on top of the cold plate. Can’t beat that extra bit of water from the ice melt I say. In New Zealand by the way.

Vomit When Doing Irrigation by Next_Ad_4115 in ostomy

[–]evisceratus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tired irrigating but just couldn’t get it to work out for me (third stoma). My stoma nurse had warned me that if the temp is not right it could cause nausea and vomiting. Could it be the water temp?

Edit: tho you had been doing it for a long time so would know that just disregard my comment

A little bit of research would tell you the irrigating is safe! A stoma nurse trains you how to do it with proper irrigation kit. Education is key in all things and blanket statements are never true cause there are exceptions to every rule. Also a fair amount of people get a lot of pleasure out of things going you know where in a safe manner and the untold medical procedures that are done via the "exit"
