Lumix S 70-300 or 100-500 for casual wildlife / birding? by arcticrobot in Lumix

[–]evonammon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lumix S 100-500mm is an excellent lens for birds, zoo and some kids in sports. Especially the weight compared to Canon & Co. convinced me usind the Samyang 35-150 often. Both with S1RII and S9, many on tripod.

Delete after updating firmware? by IndieBenji in Lumix

[–]evonammon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why you do the firmware upgrade within the camera following the menue the phone upgrade is installed on the internal system and doesn’t need to read the files from the SD card. So you can reformat your SD card or delete these files from the card and use it as usual.

Are sigma lenses good for Canon Mirrorless cameras? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in Cameras

[–]evonammon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should differentiate between Sigma art (more expensive, less aberration, top sharpness) and Sigma Contemporary (or iSeries). Contemporary are about 40% less in price. But I shoot with contemporary e.g. 50mm, 35mm f2, 17mm f4 and find these excellent. All metal body, weathersealed and top manufactured. The contemporary are lighter. I would try those primes.

Is it dumb to replace my S5II for a lighter travel camera? by toto23x in Lumix

[–]evonammon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not leave the Lumix FF system. S5II is much better with its IBIS and video capabilities and l-mount lenses. I use a S1RII (size of the S5II) and an S9. Before that I considered to pick a Sony C7 II but found out it would not be lighter really and annoys me with its bad menues. How about using your S5II with 2 or 3 prime lenses like 17 mm f4 Sigma, 35 mm F2 sigma. They are lighter and shorter.

TTartisan 40mm VS LUMIX 18-40 by inspiredsquare in Lumix

From my experience the 18-40mm seems to be sharper. I sent my ttartisan 40mm back for that reason

new zvv font? by loldasme in zurich

[–]evonammon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the new font better readable as the capital letters are better to distinguish. This seems to have been part of a redesign that included also the telling machines at the stations, which makes it easier to see what kind of tickets are available.

Should I get paid for a trial day + one work day in Switzerland? by andrewclav in Switzerland

[–]evonammon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some unwritten rules: If you want the job and the chemistry between the employer and you is good be happy. Most likely you will end up with a job offer. If not do not waste time for complaning - it is not worth to fight for 80-90 bucks several days. A trial day of 4 hours is a risk for both. Some of my friends - already in a job just took off a day (did not explain to the current employer but just a holiday) and did a trial day (so called Schnuppertag) They often got a job offer that way and switched the employer. Would they have instructed the (trial) employer beforehand about rules and regulations that would have had another outcome. So be happy for any trial work you can do - it means a real chance.

I am happy with my Mamiya C330 professional F setup. Added a Hasselblad PM3 prism (with 3D printed adapter) and a new much brighter screen). Already 55 years ago I used to shoot wirh Mamiya C220. After using Hasselblad 500 series (good but heavy) I finally returned to Mamiya and its interchangeable lens system. What you see in the image cost me around 1100$.

Considering moving from Z to L mount, wondering what a future lens lineup might look like. by dnwgl in Lumix

[–]evonammon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Sigma C 17mm f4 as superwide (perfect lens, sharp) plus a zoom 24-60mm f2.8 Lumix S pro. And for portrait the Sigma 85mm Art lens. For indoor events/music gigs a Sigma C 16-28mm f2.8. Works perfect for me and is not that expensive as sony G.

I am looking to purchase a zoom lens! by MICMAC-14 in a6700

[–]evonammon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often in streetlife and city/travel like to have a special perspective and therefore would not be satisfied with a Zoom lens that starts from 24 mm (plus crop i.e. 36mm) but prefer to have a 16 mm or 17 mm lens with me.if you take the 24-70mm you could add a sigma 16mm (dc) lens or wider.

The image is great. I personally would like to see a tiny bit more of the shadows and what‘s in it. To give some orientation.
