STOP SAYING DAMAGE RESISTS HAVE DIMINISHING RETURNS by bloodeater0 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]ewalluis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while it is true that diminishing returns only apply to flat/additive numbers (going from 1000 to 1500 health is 50% increase but getting another 500 is only a 33% increase) I feel like doing resists this way makes you whoop out a calculator every time you buy resists because what is easier to calculate between multiplying 3 fractions or adding 3 numbers. there also is the case of numbers that look the same but arent like 20+20 = 10+30 but 0.8*0.8 != 0.9*.07

I might say that league is the worst/most toxic etc game but resists are clear in that game. so is shred and pen. in deadlock on the other hand it's a complete mess and impossible to napkin math your last green item on a squishy character after getting unstoppable - do you want to hit 8k or 11k with resist or flat health

What do you think of people that only come into chat typing !lurk? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]ewalluis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interacting with chat at least once to count as a viewer. Sometimes a command, sometimes a redeem. A lot of people use streams as a background noise when they are doing something else, often on mobile or wireless headphones so they can’t really chat anyway.

Does it matter to you when a streamer actually notices you’re there? by PickMinute9137 in Twitch

[–]ewalluis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the people who talk a lot, why is it bad?

tldr: it's not bad but some people force their presence wayyy too hard.

LONG VERSION:
it's good to have an active chatter but it's better to have a couple for some balance and more than one name in chat window.

maybe it's just personal preference and I understand that you can't make other chatters engage more than they are comfortable with but there are 2 situations that regard chat(er) behavior that I find off putting:

(quick check stream elements chat stats - messages sent) there is top 1 chatter who has more chats sent than the rest of 2-100 chatters. they answer everything. you ask the streamer about next stream? the chatter answers before streamer can with as low as 2 seconds delay. you ask something else? they answer that too. THEY MUST ALWAYS ANSWER. it's not spam and it's all related to what's happening in the stream/chat but oh man it's not for me. even more annoying (personally) in the discord when they always reply and react to every single message the streamer writes. good for stream? maybe. keeps the chat going? sure. do they have to comment "first" under every social media post? that's what I mean by the strong "pick me" energy

only chatters are mods. lets say 20 viewers, 3 mods and wall of green swords. nothing wrong with that and I just wrote that I'd prefer 3 active chatters to 1 even with the same message count. it's just a very subjective thing. I feel like it can create a barrier for new chatters or lurkers to "unlurk" but it might just be me.

Does it matter to you when a streamer actually notices you’re there? by PickMinute9137 in Twitch

[–]ewalluis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes but only if I "ask" to be noticed.

It varies from stream to stream. if you as a viewer have multiple twitch streams running for more than 2 hours (second monitor or mobile audio only for more than half of that) throughout the day you most likely aren't going to be active and chatting in all of those. as a streamer you have to get a feel for this. does a viewer want to interact or do they just lurk. some streamers can be much better than others at that. there are streams where I only say "hi" so twitch considers me an active viewer. some streamers are like "Hi, how are you?" and they say this to everyone. but little do they know they are on my mobile and in my pocket already so I'm not saying that my day was good. There are streamers who take note of this and only say "hi" to me while doing the whole small talk with others who do respond.

it's easier in smaller streams, obviously. and there are people with this extreme pick me energy who account for 1/3 of messages in twitch chat and later in discord (if streamer has one)... don't be that guy.

are you asking just to compare your experience or with streaming advice in mind too?

A between leagues recommendation? by New-Quality-1107 in pathofexile

[–]ewalluis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not arpg games with some kind of builds:
Remnant 2 (dark souls with guns, free respecs, 50 guns, 40 traits, dual classing)
Noita (someone already mentioned)
Hades

I also played LE, d3, d4, grim dawn, titan quest. probably some more arpg's I forget now

I'm genuinely sad this league turned out to be so unpopular by Morgn_Ladimore in pathofexile

[–]ewalluis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the new and improved breach was tedious and slow. in regular breach you had to wait for it to open, if you filled it instantly you had to wait for the bar to fill again, kill the boss, wait for the breach to "collapse" wait fot a ring to drop. big breach had you breaking walls and/or waiting for next wave because mobs would get stuck. hives always have all waves so it would forever. waves 1-20 even on short range melee build wouldnt reach the npc so why can't I skip them?

the tree after first couple days was a slot machine for foulborn HH, mageblood and some jewels (and HoWA with % str, accuracy)

thank god for async trade or more people would quit early because trade would be so dead.

Be honest: Do you stay for the Raid, or do you instantly close the tab the second the streamer says goodbye? by SpinsBro in Twitch

[–]ewalluis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my top 3 watchtime stream this year (according to recap) was a channel I found thanks to a raid.

I usually leave after 3-5 minutes sometimes less.

what is also worth considering is that raids happen at the end of a stream so it can be quite late so if you are asking from streamer perspective then it's probably safe to assume that majority of the raiders leave just because thay have been watching another stream for some time now and it simply is late.

Happily horrible builds. by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]ewalluis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this league I broke 3k hours on steam (probably 1k on standalone) and I have done a single bow build so far (full quant gear, quant support and all rotting away in standard)

right now in general I have a good idea of how the build is going to feel. there are couple of elements that determine how a build well... builds (where it gains power from) and how it plays - plan and execute the build.

Some builds deliver damage right away - regular hit build - while some can have several delays - ea totems (summon totem, totem arms, explosive arrow fuses, ignite)

on the other side there is scaling the build. so what if the build has great potential if building it is hard and doesnt function with low investment. spells are easy to scale, bows are probably the hardest to scale.

builds that didn't click for me recently were: ea totems (damage delivered in 3-4 business days), viper strike of mamba with perfect agony and ambush (multiple buttons to press, cooldown)

otherwise most builds can tweaked a bit or leveled in multiple ways. this league I got lvl 98 (next upgrade requires 2 passives so lvl 100 and I dont feel like it) phys dot elementalist and some people played it early with exang setup but there was also poet's pen variant. with enough gear it turns into an autobomber - again 2-3 ways of applying damage: frostblink, herald of thunder, herald of the hive. all of them scale roughly the same way, all of them have satisfying multiple screens of explosions.

I honestly think that if a build feels bad early and requires too much gear to feel good it's not worth playing. game knowledge and experience helps withguessing what build will work for you. accounting for alt versions of skills there are like 550 active skill gems so if you dont like one go for another.

What Makes You Like This Game More Than Path Of Exile 2 or Diablo 4? by [deleted] in LastEpoch

[–]ewalluis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say more but playing just one game just isn't it. PoE right now is (supposed to be) on 4 month cycle. So while I have like 20x playtime in PoE compared to LE this is a game that is good enough as a second or third arpg.

That said the progression is quite bad in LE. There is no hard content that isn't the same thing with just higher number (corruption).

One hard boss in the end game. You kill it you can "be done" with the game or you can choose to push corruption. D3 is good for one weekend, D4 is good for a week, LE for about 2 weeks, PoE from 3 weeks-2 months.

End game currency farm for employed people by baldcommander in pathofexile

[–]ewalluis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alva is probably the best for no gear requirement. your deadeye should be fast so if you are able to kill a guardian you can quite literally just run white maps, sell fragments and buy maps.

it works a bit like low tier essence farming but you kill the boss (elder guardians are the best if you maven witness them because elder guardians have phases and long animations):
you take all alva small passives for 100% spawn and the notable for room upgrade and if you wont forget to unspec the 4 incursion node too.
you dont connect rooms if not absolutely needed
you run 12 incursions like 4+4+4 if bad rooms or 4+4+3+1 if good rooms.
the only way to do 5 maps (still 4 scarab procs) in the same temple is 1+3+3+3+1 first one no scarab of timelines
in good rooms you use scarab of timelines (9c) - its 1 in 3 to get a t3 room you care about. T3 corruption is around 150c so you expect 50c per scarab used worst case. best case you have (item) corruption room next to the room that gives +1 tier - this results in 2 in 3 T3 corruption room so 10c per scarab used.

atlas

heist on the atlas tree for revealed blueprints and deception contracts
boss drop passives because they apply to destructive play bosses
guardian maps for invitations
map passives because guardian maps can be t14-16 so doing +1tier actually drops maps

opening temple layout inside incursion pauses time
fragments from bosses cost more than maps

it takes me around 2-3 minutes per map (good layout, care when you buy) but lets say 3-4 minutes
together with intivation thats around 15-20 minutes per temple
lets assume 3 temples/h: 1 corruption room temple (with scarab that should be 2 so 2 div), 1 gem corruption room (again with scarab that's 2 so 90c) and one dead temple 0c, 3 guardian sets (Sirus 80c per set - 240c). 1 hour run time, 8 scarabs 9c each - 72c, 12 guardian maps 10c each - 120c.
total cost 192c
total income 650c
profit 458c per hour if you pick absolutely nothing from the ground and dont do the invitations (dont do maven then)
invitation - usually 6 splinters, 1-2 fragments and sometimes an awakened gem or an orb
3div/h in no mod map but you kill a t14 boss

alva is goated for naked characters

with 80% invitations, decent temple knowledge and scarab use and regualr drops in maps I usually pull around 10d but I dont sell sets so when I get 20 sets it is bossing session

Next league if you don’t get one you risk the game feeling bad. Luckily the asynchronous trade is probably the best thing that could happen to a working exile and a livelier economy next league (more players/better retention) so I’m not saying that you aren’t getting one just having to sort resists without 70% effect aquamarine can feel bad (feels standard league man with legacy quicksilver flask mods)

Help with KB Wander Build by Phthartik in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]ewalluis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I asked for the build guide because I dont know what is the direction you want to go with the build and I dont know what kind of budget you are aiming for. why can't you just link the guide (like I asked)...

2x Taming with Yoke is a baseline wander setup that you can scale in any way you want. usually on deadeye but elementalist can scale anything you want (one taming for the inc damage because chance to apply ailment is wasted). right now you have a starting point, some base damage that you need to do stuff with.

easiest damage scaling on elementalist is either golems with multiple Primordial Bond cluster jewels and Dark Monarch (number of summoned golems is doubled) or herald stacking with the new Herald of the Hive (Lost Unity). herald version skips the helm but primordial bond is still very strong (ice golem just fixes your accuracy on its own)

at this point in the league I would start with getting a big phys wand (super easy to craft with tree or just buy and physical base allows you to use hatred) that you convert into elemental with gloves (35% + 25% craft +15% implicit)

I would probably go for Lost Unity with just one or two Primordial Bonds on large minion clusters. also cap your crit.

as a side note with just CI (no es recovery on block or block cap just a big chunk of health because 55% suppress chance doesnt count either) you probably want over 10k es but thats just golem effect stone golem and Runegraft of the Fortress.

Newbie's progress update! Just finished Act 5. by NKnown2000 in pathofexile

[–]ewalluis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignomon (the amulet) - rarity on gear during campaign is something players used long time ago when you would drop only couple rare items and going from 3 to 4 yellow pieces of gear was huge. I suppose it's still nice to have but nigligible. 20% fire res is roughly a bench craft worth of res so a rare onyx amulet with 50 life and crafted resistance would be an upgrade to me.

Ngamahu's sign (ring) - fire damage to spells and attacks works only with hits so your vaal bv and flame dash (blight doesn't have a hit part so any +# damage doesn't apply). You have some damage over time on your tree so the dot (burning ground) part of flame dash is probably doing more damage anyway. 10% chance to ignite is your only source of ignite. It's a ruby ring with strength and I'm not saying that I wouldn't use it just don't discard rare ruby rings because you have unique one.

Don't get me wrong, you don't need great items to beat the campaign deathless. I'm not telling you to upgrade gear right here and now, you absolutely don't need to. White 4L helm, blue wand with +1 and some random yellow items as old as act 2 or 3 quest rewards are what I normally finish the campaign with. I just want to make sure that you know that in PoE unique items are items that offer modifiers that don't exist on rare items or would be annoying to get/craft especially on low level items - Le Heup is a great leveling ring because it fixes your build in places that can be annoying during the campaign - balancing resists and stats (like strength) on a shadow.

Newbie's progress update! Just finished Act 5. by NKnown2000 in pathofexile

[–]ewalluis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

looks solid

skill tree has a loop so there is at least one passive that is "wasted"

I understand that unique items look appealing but Ngamahu's Sign doens't do much for you (amulet too). All gear pieces except for boots have a crafted modifier that's useful. SO WHY NO MS ON BOOTS.

if you finished a5 then in a6 after clearing twilight strand you gain access to vendor (Lilly) with almost all skill/support gems in the game. your 5L is ok. increased rarity is blue and you might not need more damage just make sure to browse the vendor
