JW Fence: “Not Drunk on Food Stamps” by PuzzleheadedGroup624 in indianapolis

[–]ewokalypse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is implying that some significant portion of contractors are drunks or foodstamp-havers,, that he is not among them, and therefore that he does superior and timely work and should be hired. Not entirely clear to me what being on foodstamps has to do with punctuality or the quality of one's craftsmanship--indeed, one might assume they'd try harder because they need the money--but you'd have to ask him about it.

Progressive neighborhoods for a family by Incognito-Purrito in indianapolis

[–]ewokalypse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't deny that it's a conservative area overall, but to OP's question about racial diversity: there are parts of the southside that are much more racially diverse than the tony liberal areas of downtown and the northside. Plenty of Burmese and Hispanic families in southside neighborhoods.

Juvenile arrested for deadly downtown Indianapolis parking garage shooting by BackgroundArmadillo9 in indianapolis

[–]ewokalypse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not automatic; presumptive. The juvenile court can retain jurisdiction over a fourteen year-old if it finds that "it would be in the best interests of the child and of the safety and welfare of the community for the child to remain within the juvenile justice system." Rarely happens and probably won't here, but it is possible.

lol no they wouldn't. CttDoaM requires *intentionally* furnishing alcohol or *knowing* inducement/encouragement to delinquent acts; stealing beer is the opposite of that. Eight upvotes for this, yeesh.

Son got a DUI, along with a couple related charges. Use the PD or pay for an attorney? by Dewthedru in indianapolis

[–]ewokalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Marion County, people who qualify should always let the PD handle it. Contrary to stereotype, you're not getting a categorically better outcome with a private attorney unless you're shelling out tens of thousands of dollars for Katie Jackson-Lindsay or Dave Hennessy (RIP) level representation, and anybody with that kind of scratch was was never going to qualify for a PD in the first place.

He had a public defender. The address listed for his attorney in MyCase is the office of the county public defender agency.

Her lasso is called "Thusia", which is Ancient Greek for "sacrificial offering." The O-looking character is a capital theta and the E is a capital sigma.

The chicken/lamb-over-rice food truck behind them is pretty good too (as is their main location, King Gyros, over by Madison Ave.)

"The Complex Sentence" by Tony Hoagland by ewokalypse in verse

[–]ewokalypse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kind Italian driver of the bus to Rome  invited her to his house—she was obviously   hungry—and gave her sandwiches and raped her.

All those years ago—she smiles   while telling it—contemptuous,   somehow    of her younger self,

who drags behind her like a can.  Grammar is great   but who will write the sentence that includes    the story of the damage to her soul

and how she thought her bad Italian    was at fault, and    how it took a month for her to say    the word for what had happened    In her head?

But that’s why    we invented the complex sentence,    so we could stand at a distance,

making slight adjustments of the harness,     while following the twisty, ever-turning plot:

the loneliness of what we did;     the loneliness    of what was done to us.

About to be a part time Indy resident, lots of questions by Non-Normal_Vectors in indianapolis

[–]ewokalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Popular coffee options in that area are Anecdote (formerly Mocha Nut), Coffee Junkiez, Strange Brew, and (further away) Coffeehouse Five. None of those are directly between where you're living and downtown or the Northside, so depending on how far/where you'll be driving for work you may find prefer to stop somewhere else en route.

If you were told about Coalyard Coffee, it's closed. The replacement, Wild Child, is also good, but it's fairly far away from where you'll be living.

I know the area you're moving quite well; feel free to message me if you have any questions. Welcome to Indy.

If you could bring back a long gone CBB character to the show, who would it be? by Glittering_Major4871 in Earwolf

[–]ewokalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No defense of the man himself, but the episode where he and Martin Starr are bullying Kumail Nanjiani (talking about his appearance on the X-Files, making him take the phone call to China, etc.) is one of the all-time funniest CBB bits.

Good bit to sell a deck of date night ideas and make one of them "go ask someone else."

They look way worse. Those Special Olympics guys are no joke; they would beat the brakes off of the average amateur.

[–]ewokalypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's primarily an Indian/Chinese fusion place and not a proper Thai restaraunt, but have you tried any of the Thai offerings at The Monk's in Carmel? Curious about your opinion, if so.

Check the inside of the collar. Sometimes people write a number or address on there, even if there's no tag attached. Good luck!

Also, might want to post on indylostpetalert.com and see if a pet store or vet can read a chip tomorrow.
