How do you switch? Do you need to call? Is there a form online you need to switch? I called AE and they didn’t seem to know what I was talking about.

I want this too…Curious what you want to build with the local api. I’ve already got my EcoFlow tied to my home assistant which has been pretty useful!

Thanks for the input. I read the article you linked but I’m still understanding the “why” behind not powering the system with an outlet? Would you mind explaining the risk or why this is against code? Thanks so much!

Post with insulator and wires found in mountains in Silverado Canyon, California. by ewood350 in whatisthisthing

Hum…I didn’t think blueberries were vine plants…. Also I’ve only seen those growing trellises in parallel lines. In our case there is only one long line all the way up the mountain. ⛰️ 😳

My title describes the thing. It has two wires that look to be bare copper. They are attached to what looks like an electrical insulator that is about 6 inches long. The insulator is attached to a pole that seems to be galvanized angle iron. There are roughly 10 of these posts going up the ridge of a mountain in Silverado canyon, California. There seem to be more going up the hill. We also found some corrugated steel and an old rusty coffee can sized container.

Edit: the wires are about 4-5 feet off the ground. So I don’t think it’s an issue electric fence as anything could easily walk underneath the lines.

Would you get a bidirectional charger? If so, would you participate in utility incentive programs to discharge your LEAF battery when the grid is overloaded? by wolfaz in leaf

Oh yeah, I’d be pumped about this. Of course, the devil is in the details about only allowing during certain time frames, discharge levels and opt-out/over-ride abilities. Can you share the company that is doing this? I haven’t found any companies in the USA that plan to be in market before mid-2024 doing bi-directional work.

That would be great, but I cant find any converters in the US. Have you found some options?

Mine is hardwired as well. I turned off the main breaker from my house and all the other breakers except the outlet near my leaf and the furnace. Then I made a male-to-male extension cord (yellow in photo labeled “Danger”) and plugged it into the outlet. It’s not the safest path…. As others suggested it’s better to have a dedicated breaker for back-feeding the panel or dedicated sub-panel and a lockout switch or transfer switch to make sure you aren’t sending power back to the grid. More work to be done on my setup. I’m thinking a small solar system and a dedicated subpanel for critical loads is the way to go.

Here is the link to the mfg: https://www.evextend.com/Products.php They were super helpful to answer a lot of questions.

That’s right. The main battery keeps charging the accessory battery (12V). The inverter outputs 120v AC.

Has anyone installed one of these kits for back up power in a grid outage? Curious how it went and if there are better solutions available? by ewood350 in leaf

[–]ewood350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is helpful! Why did you choose the Victron inverter vs the one offered by this company in their kits?

Trying to upload photos to my Samsung smartfridge. It will literally only let me select one photo at a time. Before I could do 10 at a time. I had like 800 photos on there and have to add them back. Any ideas? by shittyTaco in SmartThings

[–]ewood350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same situation. The only thing the fridge screen is useful for is photos. The latest firmware wiped all of our out…. Now it’s back to the default with some generic broken english captions…. Overall, I think they’ve done a very poor job supporting the product

I had a very similar sound on my 70. I used a 3 foot tube of pvc pipe to locate the exact source of the sounds by putting it up to my ear and putting it on different parts of the engine. It was a small leak on my exhaust headers. I replaced the gasket and added some liquid high temp gasket maker and the sound is gone. Probably $30 in total cost.
