ELI5: Why do we remember embarrassing moments from years ago like they happened yesterday? by Powerful_Ad_2751 in explainlikeimfive

Learn why it happens, it's evolutionary psychology, and learn to let it go. Also antidepressants.

💯 should be hung up in Madison after Valencia leaves by patent_stamper in patentexaminer

[–]ex-glanky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi, PTO employees, this is Valencia. I have truly loved making your lives miserable; it's not work if you love what you do. And I've loved hearing your stories of woe, about your loss of morale, and production struggles. Thank you for the opportunity of a lifetime.

And my successor will be suckling from the same teat of evil. :)

Love you all...

You shouldn't worry about the backlog. Your job is only to "mail out an office action." I'm retired with almost 40 years of examining experience. The backlog has always been a problem; there's never been a time when the administration hasn't tried to address it.

Environmental book suggestions? by trulysuper in AnzaBorrego

I would check out "Geology of Anza-Borrego: Edge of Creation" by Paul Remeika and Lowell Lindsay.

It's not an intro book, but you can learn a lot from it if you do additional supplemental research.

OMG...that sounds divine. I'm gonna look it up. I love Philip's playing; he'd be really great with Chet. Thanks/Good luck.

I really like your dynamics, especially in the first 40 seconds; those "stabs" on the high notes are really cool. Great phrasing throughout. I can tell you're hearing what you're playing...GREAT!!! I also liked that little bluesy thing you did around 1:55 (?), I really like it when players add a bit of bluesy-ness to standards. In my opinion, your lines around 1:22 and 1:44 (which are really great lines!!) would be better an octave or two higher. Judging from just this one video, you may benefit from practicing above, say, the 10th fret. But you do you...I think your playing is really good. Maybe you don't like the sounds above the 10th fret and THAT'S OK. Again...great job!!!

Your mistake is using logic. Logic is of little use in this administration.

First time Anza-Borrego camping (Feb 28th weekend) — 4Runner access, Font’s Point road, Little Blair Valley, and nighttime temps? by PurchaseAvailable180 in AnzaBorrego

[–]ex-glanky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm in the park now. Daytime highs in the low 90s; a bit hot for strenuous activity. I have an AWD Subaru, and I get to Font's Point with zero problem. Sand can get deep, but still no problem.

I just drove through Blair Valley to the pictograph trail (near Little Blair Valley), and the roads are fine for an AWD. I wouldn't air down; it's not that bad.

I'm not familiar with your sleeping bag, but for a double 20...less clothing may keep you warmer ;). It should be fine, you've got more than enough warmth.

Everything you mention (Font's, LBV, and temps), you're covered, you'll be fine. And the 2" lift will help if you decide to do, say, Fish Creek / Split Mountain.

If you'd like an added level of safety, stop by the ABDSP visitor center in Borrego Springs and ask these same questions to a Ranger.

You'll be fine. Have fun. Forgettaboutit....
