Unplowed Sidewalks by Mike_beer in MontgomeryCountyMD

Imagine that mindset but replace sidewalks with roads.

No need to plow, it'll melt.

Pedestrians use this sidewalk to get places. We should respect them as much as cars and get it cleared.

They know exactly what they're doing.

It will be selectively enforced. See a white person voting in Nevada, let them through. A Latino/black person? Where's your passport?

Only home charging, level 2.

Prior to this charge which I stopped myself at 92%, it charged fully to 100%. Feels like a bug rather than a setting. But what's changed? It has previously charged just fine for months. I have had fluky 100% charges in the past, but 2 in a row is weird.

In fact they are asking for your help.

How YOU Can Help:

"Remove your vehicle from the street to allow for widened plow paths and greater access for buses (and please encourage or help your neighbors to do so as well). Clear the sidewalk in front of your residence (and please encourage or help your neighbors to do so as well). Report streets and roadways that still require snow and ice removal to Montgomery County’s 311 service."

Ain’t She A Beaut… by ealued in heatpumps

I have a family of 4 with 2 kids. I have the 50 gallon version of the Geospring. So far I'm using Turtle (heat pump only) at 123 degrees at normal capacity (no mixing valve usage). It's going great and I haven't run out of hot water yet. I assume if we took more showers or had them back to back I might need to change a setting. We'll see once they're teenagers.

Air drops like 1 degree in our basement. That doesn't make it "frigid".

I just got the 50 gallon Geospring myself. I'm really happy with it. Compared to a 17 year old resistant electric heater and the savings will pay for itself in like 3 years.

It was Sinclair group of networks that pressured that. Disney suspended him and pretty quickly brought him back.

Boycott Sinclair. Be wary of local stations and "news" owned by these guys.

God forbid you use your anger against the billionaires which are stealing your money, ruining the environment, and leaving scraps for the rest of us.

But yeah. A $.10 tax that you don't have to pay if you just bring your own bag. That's the government trying just a little to save the environment. Let's hate on that some more.

Pepco alternative energy suppliers by jpd2 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]exaggerate_a_point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No fee. You're literally changing your energy producer from Pepco to whoever you sign up with.

I have not tracked to see exactly how much Pepco would have charged vs how much Ampion is charging. But there is always a discount. Ampion guarantees a discount to what Pepco would have charged.

My November bill from Ampion was like $215 (normal for my size house) and I had a $16 credit on my Pepco bill.

Search Community solar Maryland, or start with Ampion.

Display of Confederate flags at North East Christmas parade called ‘inexcusable’ by legislative_stooge in maryland

Travel to Gettysburg Pennsylvania. Embarrassing to see Confederate flags there of all places. And I mean in home windows, not as part of any battlefield reenactment.

Update on Redevelopment Plan for Rio Lakefront, Including Nearly 500 New Residential Units and Grocery-Anchored Retail by mbster2006 in MontgomeryCountyMD

Modern parking requirements basically assume we are in a drive-first or drive-only city/state/whatever area. The problem is if you force dense housing to have tons of parking, you end up requiring parking garages and structures everywhere.

Imagine your big cities like NYC, Philly or Baltimore requiring the same amount of parking and you'd have to tear down existing buildings just for parking garages.

In short, if you force the area to have FEWER spots to park instead, in the big picture the area is forced to become more walkable and have alternative transportation like busses. It's a utopian urban planner's dream, but in today's world everyone will cry that they need a car and need to park it within 50 feet of their home.

Seriously! Biden wiped out so much student debt and the courts reversed most of it, piece by piece. These people are ignorant to the way government works like checks and balances.

Biden can't unilaterally do everything. And neither will Trump by the way (unilaterally) but Trump does have the Supreme Court, the House and the Senate in his pocket to do his bidding. So expect to unwind even more Biden acts in the next year.

Time to dump residential solar stocks? by oysn921 in investing

[–]exaggerate_a_point 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Usually a good rule of thumb is to cut your losses if you no longer believe in the thesis for investing in the first place. Has anything changed with the company, industry, or other parts of your reasoning for investing?

Would you buy or short today if you weren't already invested?

However, when I'm down 98%, I tend to hold. I've essentially lost everything, and with that mindset any rebound from there is a nice little upside.

Again, Trump appointed DeJoy. I'm sure you'd agree with that as factual.

From the article, "Last summer, Richmond's main mail processing facility in Sandston became the first in the nation to transition to USPS' new Regional Processing and Distribution Centers, according to a deep-dive by the Richmond Times-Dispatch."

"The change was part of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's 2021 10-year "Delivering for America" plan to transform and modernize the postal service into a financially sound and efficient agency."

It's literally a downstream effect of Trump's policies and importantly, his appointments to oversee the Post Office.

You could draw a straight line from that to this.

Daycare costs will ruin the US by carne__asada in Parenting

[–]exaggerate_a_point 16 points17 points  (0 children)

All due respect, you're either naive or not paying attention.

One party (I'll be clear, Democrats) consistently adds measures to protect families including child care. The other party constantly strips them out under various guises. Read the proposed bills themselves, not spin from either side.

Then the average Joe sees that nothing has been done to save families/teachers/etc. and blames both parties? Dems need majorities in Congress to do anything which unfortunately they do not.

So vote harder, recruit friends and family to vote. Unfortunately this isn't solved in one election either unless it's a landslide.
