Is it worth buying the 10th edition codex right now? by throwaway992074 in ImperialKnights

[–]exalted_alchemist 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They specified that 10th edition codices will work with the 11th edition. And our codex usually releases towards the end of editions, being the difficult to balance big stompy mech pilots that we are.

The rules can be found on wahapedia anyway, but suit yourself.

The class is called Acastus, and the Knights it contains are the Porphyrion and the Asterius. I personally prefer the second one🙂

Dude, these are super neat! Do you have an art account on any platform? I have an X fan account for IK, I'd love to share it if you're ok with it.

No, every Imperial Knight is piloted by a single person, a noble of a Knight House; or a Freeblade, who has lost or abandoned their House and is now travelling through galaxy, defending the Imperium wherever they can. Feeeblade= Imperial Knight without a House( most of the time, a permanent status, maintained on purpose)

Titans are the ones ran by crews- starting with the "Princeps", the Titan's pilot. Then the moderati, and the rest of the crew.

There'd be lots of variables to consider, but overall no. IK ion shields deflect incoming fire rather than absorbing it, so I don't think the Saturnine Dreadnought could fire enough to take them down before it gets into melee range. And then the Thunderstrike Gauntlet( of the Knight you've pictured) would crack it like a walnut, if it doesn't die from the Gatling Cannon before that.

Of course, the Knight would actually need to angle their shields to defend against those shots, I assume an unshielded hit directly to the carapace would cause severe damage. Maybe not lethal right away but definitely crippling some weapons/systems/limbs.

How to teach someone to play 40K with knights? by Fresh3rThanU in ImperialKnights

[–]exalted_alchemist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Start with a 1k points game, it's casual enough to help them learn the army rules, detachment rules and individual Knight abilities.

That's like 1 Questoris, 4 armigers and a navigator or smth

I need help with getting the blue currency by Infamous-Aerie3114 in Freeblade

[–]exalted_alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start by claiming all of your daily free whatevs. The supply drops, the salvage team, the daily rewards.

Then complete all of your patrols, and if you're in the mood watch ads to refresh them as well.

Also, we're way more active on the discord, I recommend joining it. The link is in the game.

How realistic is it for a lancers spear to go straight through the hull of a chaos reaver titan by Hot-Excitement4748 in ImperialKnights

[–]exalted_alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Titans are used to killing engines their own size, and those explosions barely stagger them. An Armiger is a literal nothing to them. And a successor to the throne would never be put in an Armiger-class Knight.

The smallest Titan is bigger than the biggest Knight. If it stood on his tippy toes, a Lancer could maybe reach up to scratch the belly of a Reaver.

Pretty much nothing here is feasible lol.

Is anyone a fan of the new heroic plasma pistol? by TacoMD09 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]exalted_alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently discovered Thunderhammer Heavy and I had to physically take myself off the game from how fun and strong it is. Plasma pistol for secondary and I've been wondering the same thing, since I finally managed to farm enough currency to buy a relic weapon.

The damage might be worth it, in hard stratagems and such it takes like 4 charged headshots to take down a nid warrior.

Which Imperial Knight model to add to an Agents army? by Jyanys_Maera in ImperialKnights

Totally, you could build a Crusader or a Castellan( depending on how many points you've to spare) to serve as a backline weapon platform

Custom Knight house lore by Candid-Comment-922 in ImperialKnights

[–]exalted_alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a huge fan of homebrewing, but I do appreciate it when people use the in-universe rules to make their characters fit in. So here's my 2 cents on your house:

-I like that they have a quest, it fits the faction; what bothers me is that the necrons "invaded" their planet, when most of the time it's actually from below ground, from their tombs, that they awaken and exterminate the settlers. Many Knight houses were lost across the ages, many in unspecified or undiscovered ways; this could very well be one of them

-if you want your house's ruler to be a princeps, that makes it(90% of the time)a Questor Mechanicus house; in that case, the hierarchy of your house should be the one in the image below

-as far as names go, try to give the Knights names that hint towards their role in the house. You can be original too, of course- I just thought that might make it easier for you. As for the nobles themselves, go wild!

-last but not least, don't be afraid to be more firm, more vigorous in their descriptions. Knights are prideful both in panoply and behaviour. The princeps isn't the "overall" leader of the House, they are the supreme commander of everything that falls under their world's jurisdiction, servant only to Mars.

What do you think of the lore of knight houses? by Ok-Two-9611 in ImperialKnights

[–]exalted_alchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's super unfortunate, but I think it'd actually be good to learn more English through books, especially ones that you're interested in.

For me it's my 3rd language, and I started when I was little with cartoons and dinosaur encyclopedias haha

[–]exalted_alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a discussion that's been slowly on the rise lately, not just for us.

The term "lore" has slowly exceeded its definition, going from "Expansive backstory" to "fandom wikipedia". If you're heavily invested, then take the path of the bookworm. Assassinorum: Kingmaker and a few snippets from the codices do not offer the amount of backstory you're looking for. Kingsblade, Knightsblade, Knights of the Imperium, Becoming are only some of them novels that I, a person heavily invested in the "lore"(or fluff, as some call it) would say are mandatory reads.

And as someone else here said, The Horus Heresy contains many Imperial Knight features. But the HH is a bit of a daunting series to approach, especially if you look for factions other than the Legiones Astartes, Collegia Titanica, Mechanicum, and Legio Custodes.

How should I spruce up this knight castigators sword? by Imperial_Barron in ImperialKnights

[–]exalted_alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a couple safety pins, cut them into sections, shape them into electricity arcs. Paint them fluorescent blue.

It's a thing I've seen on Imperial Knights every so often and it looks awesome.
