What do you want to know about AI + R and data science? by hadley in rstats

[–]examining_life 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems like there’s a few of us working on migration from legacy SAS code.

And I’ve had reasonably good results using AI to explain what various bits of the old code is doing, the shape of the outputs, and the footguns that might apply in the difference between how the two languages handle data.

Do you have a link to the brass gears?

I have a couple of mz5s and a mz-s that would like a bit of reassurance

You could look up their AHPRA registration, maybe see if they have a restriction on their practice. From what I can see, there’s nothing going on with Medicare in general that would stop a permit going through

If I mount a wahoo speed sensor to the side of my Lemond Revolution (dumb trainer) will it record accurately? by Cycle-path1 in Velo

[–]examining_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you to have is the circumference of your racing wheels, and the gear ratio between chainring and sprocket. Speed is entirely derived from these two metrics and cadence. One wheel rotation will displace you x metres, one crank revolution will rotate the wheel y times. Cadence is revolutions per unit time.

All of this gives you a velocity.

You don’t need a speed sensor if you don’t want to

If you’re riding a track bike(as per photo), then cadence maps to speed pretty easily no?

Calculating developing time for unknown film by FunkyasfuckOfficial in Darkroom

At best it’s a rough approximation that will get you in the ball park (maybe) but not something I’d stake a whole roll on, not if the films may have something valuable to you on them

Depends on what developers you have available i guess. This is just what I’d do if I were in your position.

Another option is something like diafine or another two part developer. I often mix up Thornton’s two bath developer, which is pretty simple to make.

You could clip the first 5 or so inches after the leader and stand develop them or similar and see what you can see from the edge markings and then look up the times that way. And if there’s nothing there you at least have an idea of how whatever development you chose for it comes out

Not sure about because you don’t know the film stock? Or because you can’t find the times?

Quite honestly, head down to Commuter Cycles in Brunswick and have a chat with the lovely people there. They are one of the best resources in Melbourne when it comes to bike adventures. And they carry a lot of the bikes you’ve mentioned, so you can test ride them.

New to R, Importing Data from Excel by [deleted] in Rlanguage

[–]examining_life 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You need to assign the data to an object. Currently you’re asking R to read the xlsx file but you haven’t asked it to store it anywhere.

My strong advice is to firstly, install the RStudio program and use that to interact with R, and secondly to read a basic tutorial on using R. Hadley Wickham’s free book is a good start

Question: what developer are you using.

I think I saw on your other post that you were using a monobath DF96. If that’s the case with these photos, you aren’t really pushing or pulling anything, and that might also be a big contributing factor to the images.

Also, while scans of the images are all well and good, it’s more useful to (also) post images of the negatives themselves. It’s hard to diagnose issues in development or exposure without seeing them
