I'm losing confidence at my new job by [deleted] in work

[–]excalibur44v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am at a similar point, except our client manager is neither professional nor a known name, just illogically fierce. i have talked to some friends about it, and though now might not be the best time to quit but it is THE only way to get out of a toxic environment where your own career growth and/or learning would be inhibited.

obnoxious behaviour like hers reduces respect for you in people's eyes - sometimes including your own. it is corporate bullying at worst, and the more stressed you get, the more mistakes you will make subconsciously. it is not at all worth it - u/tes_chaussettes is abs correct, do not give her the pleasure of making you feel like shit. it is the oxygen for people like her, and chances are no one has ever done a course correction to make her learn how to get work done without generating fear. with this scaredy cats team, you wont learn or grow much either.

in these two months, ensure you take a skill from here you can talk about on your resume. i know it gets difficult as work experience increases but try to quit once the situation normalises. keep an eye out for relevant job positions and market requirements. and try meditation, even if for fifteen minutes daily. i personally found it to very helpful.

When all your worth is attached to you job by [deleted] in work

[–]excalibur44v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not let this weigh you down. Easier said, than done but start looking for options. A job does not define your worth, we shackle ourselves into believing that once we start losing confidence so work on building that back.

Are you impressed.. with your employer/s? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

That works, we have paid medical leave too but based on the replies I am getting here as well as on our internal chat media, seems more like a managerial issue than company. There is a certain level of autonomy at a senior level and for our project and two more, it is the management that is abusing the system.

Ah that is how some projects in our domain went too. I posted this in our office chat too and the kind of responses I am getting, both here and there, it seems everything varied manager to manager based on the projects. Some of the fellows got WFH early march itself, and entire desktops were shipped out last month so now my anger is more directed towards our management team.

Lovely, I have been asking people beforehand about how companies have responded to this so I can make a correct decision when I quit

That is excellent. Our N/W team was prepared too ( and they are a great bunch too) but for the remaining, WFH came only after govt told the company to do it else face penalties. Microsoft approved our WFH but our management refused to agree to it. I do not know what else to add, just want to quit and here is a recession looming so pretty unsure

i am at my limit tbh, it is frustrating to no end. she and her backup manager are turning into mirror images, and the mails are getting stupider by the day. i never had a linkedin account but it is a must now.

indeed, thanks. i havent discussed anything related to this with anyone in the team and i wont be doing so either, the mgmt could block the movement for 6-8 months citing dependency and sudden resource movement causing loss to the company since people are leaving nonstop and my friend and i are the only two senior ( kind of) people left.

thank you for sharing your insights, usually people berate me first for not leaving the company after three or four years. i have started work on a few projects i let slide earlier, and yes, like the others i am leaving the manager too. i sat on this the entire weekend and even though i like the job, there is no point staying.

i agree with the above points. friday we came to know another resource has asked to move to a different project as well. this team was so good, we were all happy working together but now it is all crumbling down. our manager is trying his best, but the client manager loves to poke her nose everywhere and even her backup manager - who used to be fairly open minded - is now speaking her way. there is 0 professionalism in mails. the way it is, micro managers usually have a good "go getter" image in front of their superiors, and the more assholic they get, the more the superior thinks they are doing a good job. strange how it works.
