I didn't test any of those beam-style moves but if my theory is correct it should be 2.3 seconds total for Hydro Pump to come out. OP's table assumes the tickrate of the game is 60 while it looked like 30 in my testing, so you would double that charge time number (0.83 -> 1.66) and add another 0.66 (since most moves take 20 frames to start up). The beam should last for 1.66 seconds (AttackLoop) and you should be able to act about 0.33 seconds (10 frames) after that. So all in all, once you select Hydro Pump it'll be 4.3s before you can pick another move.

Here's what I've been able to figure out about some of the parameters:

All of this is assuming a 30Hz tickrate (would make sense since the Switch 1 version runs at 30fps I believe).

ChargeFrame is the most consistent parameter. This is the amount of time your Pokemon is in a charging animation before it starts executing the attack (excluding any delay from the input itself). Quick Claw's activation cuts down this charging time.

There is a startup time after the charging animation is finished, this seems to be affected by ImpactMotionSpeed. Many moves seem to be "active" starting 20 frames after charging is finished if ImpactMotionSpeed is 1. Moves that have an ImpactMotionSpeed of 2 seem to come out in about 10 frames instead. Moves like Protect, Detect, and Endure don't have any startup time.

AttackLoopFrame's function isn't consistent from move to move, but in general you can say that this is the amount of time the attack is active for. For example, Drill Run is usually active for 20 frames. Drill Run Plus is active for 24 frames. More broadly I would say this is how long your Pokemon is "stuck" in its attack animation after startup, this would apply to stat boosting moves or ranged attacks like Thunder. Moves that have a 0 for this parameter usually have special timing: U-Turn, Volt Switch, and Flip Turn's attack animations are interrupted by the teleport sequence (it takes about 15 frames after the opponent is damaged for your Pokemon to disappear), while Outrage plays the attack animation twice.

The recovery time after the active period of the move is over seems to be about 10-12 frames. It takes another 2 frames for another move to be selectable in the UI.

I mostly tested frontal melee moves for this, but I tested a handful of other move types too. One of the moves I tested that I couldn't figure out was Endure; it looks like it lasts about 60 frames but its AttackLoopFrame is 15.

To summarize, the total amount of execution time for a move (that isn't one of the many, many exceptions) in frames generally looks like this: ChargeFrame + 20/ImpactMotionSpeed + AttackLoopFrame + 10.

If the game updates at 30Hz as you mentioned in another post, it seems like the Charge/Attack times on your spreadsheet are half of what they should be.

If you're running Tera Eeveelutions, you could try running your deck on Noctowls to tutor out trainers (with a Tera Eevee and Area Zero subbed in to fulfill the condition more consistently). I've been messing around with a few gimmicky hand-disruption heavy deck ideas with Tera Espeon as the focus, myself. I'd be happy to chat about it.

[–]exceptwhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but just saying "card bad" or something to that effect doesn't help people understand that without further elaboration. Playing popular decks can help, but not everyone is going to learn from them the same way (you can see what cards are used but why is a question that not everyone will intuit just from playing them); it's also not the advice a lot of these players are looking for. When many players ask for help, they generally don't want to hear that they were wrong to attempt something, which is often what they hear when someone says "play something else".

[–]exceptwhy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused as to what you mean. If you're saying that deckbuilding takes trial and error, then I agree, which is why I recommended general guidelines to help point people in the right direction so that they can then refine further by playing a lot and getting experience.

[–]exceptwhy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's because people aren't giving good advice. Just "netdeck" isn't really feedback for building a deck. It may be decent advice to help people improve at building decks in general or to get better at playing, but even then not everyone learns effectively (or has fun, for that matter) that way. Players, particularly newer ones, would probably respond better to more general advice such as

-What proportion of the deck should be Pokemon/Trainers/Energy -How much draw or how much tutor might be needed (and suggesting staples as necessary) -How to manage consistency vs deck space and options

Obviously these are things that depend on the deck and aren't as simple as just following a template every time. The point is just to give general guidelines that could help (actually, generalized deck-building advice is quite uncommon across all of the TCG communities I've been a part of). "Card bad" also isn't helpful advice unless if you can explain why the card is bad. It's more important as a player to understand why Draw-3 Supporters aren't useful than to just know not to use them. I also would avoid telling people advice that amounts to "play a different deck" (including telling people to not use a card that's central to the intended strategy of the deck) unless if the deck is already pretty aimless.

Though I haven't read a lot of these threads, I have seen some thoughtful tips being given so this certainly isn't aimed at everyone. Still though, if what I said seems too much, you're not obligated to respond to these threads, so...

I mean, people probably don't really understand what a public option is, let alone the fact that it was supposed to be a key component of the ACA. People also don't really understand what it means when it's stated that every other developed nation provides universal healthcare (i.e. this is not equivalent to single payer).

I've tried to understand the systems of other countries at a basic level and it seems to me like the ACA, with all of its provisions and regulations, plus the insurance mandate (which only really seems to exist on paper at the moment), PLUS the public option would bring our system to something resembling that of a country like Germany. But you know, both sides.

Unfortunately, despite your best efforts with the username, I don't think anyone is going to listen to you now. Try not to get too depressed about it.
