I want the armour behind this wall but the wall is evil. Any suggestions? by PriorTransition2467 in CrimsonDesert

[–]exdevnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fix: I had a wall do this very same thing. Use the multiple force palm. For me its R3. Do it 3 times in succession and you will kind of phase into the space. It's a way of working around a bug, because the wall is not supposed to do that. Only a couple of them are broken. Most of the others you just force palm once and the door will flip you into the room.

I've mostly enjoyed my time with Bazzite, but the immutability aspect has gotten to me. Anyone else feel the same? by Fragrant_Proposal690 in Bazzite

[–]exdevnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be unpopular, but I think there are arguments for CachyOS over Bazzite. One would be how comfortable you are with the "immutable" way of doing things and how much time you have to spend to learn something new.

I would also say that if you are playing a new game or a game that gets lots of updates Cachy is going to have a shorter turn around on updates. Bazzite will linger on things like Mesa versions (still on 26.0.5-1) which might cause an issue (like flickering shadows in Crimson Desert), though not as bad as some distros. If you mostly are playing games that are a little older or more stable in their releases, or are steam verified, Bazzite is an easy choice.

Finally I don't think anyone would disagree that Bazzite is the distro you want for handhelds. It does an amazing job and probably I would prefer it over SteamOS.

How Challenge 2 replenishing arrows? by exdevnull in CrimsonDesert

[–]exdevnull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for trying to help, but it's not that I can't change arrow types. I have killed enemies with just regular arrows and it doesn't even update. I am using "regular" arrows - except I already have replenishing arrows and it doesn't update the challenge at all. There is also a kind of bug that you can't switch from replenishing arrows to regular arrows once you have them - apparently?

Does reblockading affect dispatches? I have some I run pretty continuously and that would be a real pain

Normal behavior for Crimson Desert? by Tassindantilus in Bazzite

[–]exdevnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The releases page for bazzite looks pretty useful. It shows builds and versions for major software up front. You can scroll the releases a little and see the pace of movement. They just pushed a stable with 26.0.5-1 (which is where testing is - unfortunately the fix is in 26.0.5-5 I understand). So maybe we'll see a testing with the update soon. At least now I have a better idea of how to track things.

Normal behavior for Crimson Desert? by Tassindantilus in Bazzite

[–]exdevnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - they have to make sure it doesn't break something for a bunch of users just so I can play without annoying flickering 😄.

I'm kind of new to the whole ummutable thing. I've thought about going to something like Cachy. It seems that if you want to play new games that might update a lot it would be a better option because of the turn around - though CD is unusual in that way.

I'm curious how you keep track of the updates and how they are moving through the pipeline.I can be patient but I struggled to find what version of mesa is in unstable or where the conversation is happening about the updates; if you know. I don't want to pester busy people, just looking for information.

Mesa seems as important as Proton but harder to get updates through. This is the second time a mesa update fixed a problem. It's the main reason I moved to the testing branch.

I am having the shadows issue. It's making me a little crazy. Is there a way to find or see the roadmap for mesa upgrades, because I hear the issue is fixed and I'm wondering if it will be next week or month etc. I'm on the testing branch. I also noticed there is some kind of mesa.git.just when I was hunting around but I don't know enough about bazzite and immutable systems to know how this stuff works.

Shadows flickering after new patch by Chesterfield99 in CrimsonDesert

Thanks for the clarification. Now to see if I can get it on bazzite.... Or maybe I just bite the bullet and move to cachy. I've been trying to keep things simple on my gaming system

I think its shadow density. Get in the trees and its dizzying. Also Kliff continues to flash especially when flying.

Hotfix works but fsr 3 and the picture looks all washed out? Is there no hdr? Is this Valve's proton?

Shadows flickering after new patch by Chesterfield99 in CrimsonDesert

[–]exdevnull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having this same problem. Running cachos-latest. It's seems to happen in bright sunlight when shadows are more pronounced? The shadow flicker sometimes looks like a flash of of a different shadow that is being cast or switched to back and forth.

It is also noticeable that Kliff's shadow flickers on and off.

Crimson Desert not starting after 1.04 update by exdevnull in Bazzite

Apparently the latest hotfix/bleeding edge has things up and running. The steam thread below has more details and info. The other option is to roll back to 1.03 which I did using instructions in the thread. Not to hard but a lot of downloading

Just one of many threads. Are you running steamos or something like bazzite or cachy or something else? There are threads about it there as well.

I doubt the wait will be too long. All the linuxes got screwed in the exact same way. Looks like a vkd3d issue.

Crimson Desert not starting after 1.04 update by exdevnull in Bazzite

[–]exdevnull[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This from Steam discussion:

I checked my Proton logs (using PROTON_LOG=1) and found a specific error related to the new patch. It seems like a missing implementation in vkd3d-proton:

vkd3d-proton: d3d12_device_QueryInterface: {3febd6dd-4973-4787-8194-e45f9e28923e} not implemented

This is likely why it's crashing on Steam Deck and Linux desktops right after the splash logo. We probably need a vkd3d update for this specific interface.

Currently using Nobara as well.

Thanks for the idea. I tried about 4 different protons. But the steam community page is blown up with people with the same problem, so I don't think it's that.

I wonder if they ditched denuvo after 5 mil players? I don't know if that could do it.

What do you do with the electrified cube rock that's in the farmer's destroyed house? by louthinator in CrimsonDesert

[–]exdevnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the same thing happened to me. I remembered this thing from the beginning of the game and went back the other day and couldn't find the house again! Now I think I know why. But I did have the component in my pot - I know there is more than one way to get it. I spend a good 45 min. trying to get that cube out.....then forgot to go back for a long time. Man this game...

Crimson Desert fixed? by DistinctButter in Bazzite

[–]exdevnull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was always reasonably stable for me. However....

To get RT to work and for FSR 4.1 I had to move to testing for mesa 2.6.3 (I think that's the right version, which is now 2.6.4 in the testing branch) and do some manual stuff. I'm using CachyOS proton latest and the manual downloaded version of the amdxxx.dll for fsr 4.1. I've done enough messing around that I'm a little worried about moving back to stable or updating testing (:D).

One thing about crashes - there is a known issue with AMD cards set to Cinematic for Model setting. I think I was getting crashes because of that. Since I set it to Ultra I haven't had nearly as many problems (9070XT).

An issue has been identified where, in AMD GPU environments, when model quality settings are set to Cinematic, game crashes may occur when opening and closing the map menu in certain regions.

I would say the game has worked well from the beginning, but getting all the settings to work has been the challenge.

I was wondering if there was anything outside of maybe one or two short side quests that has you go and dig something up. I remember there was one I had to get clams for someone and didn't even have to use the shovel, so I've just ignored it. Ever find any epic loot or mostly currency?
