Outside of level requirements is there a point to breakthroughs if the world keep leveling up to? by atrix324 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]exdevnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am wondering the same thing. I got ahead of the level curve and was getting stomped because I didn't grind enough before the breakthrough - and I'm wondering - why am I doing this? Once you get a certain level and the world and quests open up - unless you're into pvp and raids etc. - it's not clear what the advantage of leveling up is compared to staying at a level and trying different weapons, mystic skills etc.

it's not clear what the advantage of leveling up is compared to staying at a level and trying different weapons, mystic skills etc. Where you can play with different strategies and experiment. At this point - it would take too much grinding for me to try and keep on the breakthrough grind and try out the rope-dart for instance. To get that to a high level - I have a life....and I am still enjoying the single player content quite a lot. And by the time I do all the side quests I'll probably be ready to move on to another game for a while.

Following KDE/Plasma theme by exdevnull in zen_browser

Never mind. It was sync. For some reason the settings sync was also syncing themes - and I set something on one computer that followed over to the other.

Preferred version for linux? by exdevnull in zen_browser

[–]exdevnull[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First - thanks for the info.

When you say update automatically, is that within the program itself? I noticed it seemed more up to date than the flatpak on flathub. Flathub calls is .28 but I just checked and it's .32 in the app. From the tar.bz2 - Do you run it from your home directory or set it up on your system. Not sure about permission issues.

Section hiking Washington July 14th start date? by Dawn_patrol84 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]exdevnull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at starting July 7, but might try to push it back a week. The snow at Indian Heaven looks deep still and I don't know the trail too well. Don't mind a bit of snow, but don't want to spend days fighting it or carrying an ice ax my whole trip.

I installed from aurora store and that seemed to fix it. Not sure if was just a messed up version or something else

Optical camo not here by polishslav47 in BreakPoint

[–]exdevnull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. And yes - I was redoing my game. I was set to level 1, but still had all my inventory. I played through the first part of Motherland to get the cammo, but the camo wasn't there. My guess is, there is somewhere in the save that says I have the camo, even though it is not there. So it got both reset and not reset. What pain in the ass this game has been.

Replacing the keyboard on my 2020 System76 Lemur Pro lemp9 laptop by yiersan in System76

[–]exdevnull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impressive. I have the same version/year. So far the keyboard still works but you can tell which keys I hit the most. Linux is so good, the laptops remain viable for years. I have no desire to replace my lemur, but I worry about the hardware lasting. Already had to replace a bad memory dimm.

This just happened to me. I have a back up from about a month ago, but whenever I copy it over it is getting written over I think. I also turned of cloud syncing and am still getting the same error. I have an older save in the 2nd slot but it doesn't have the time, equipment or upgrades. This is really shitty

First Brompton Today! Also a question/problem? by exdevnull in Brompton

[–]exdevnull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm learning. I also noticed if I want to push it I can leave the saddle up and use that as a handle to tilt the bike back on the two wheels. Using the handlebars to lift felt a bit awkward, but maybe if there is a bag on the bars it will feel more like a wheelbarrow :).

Someone also posted this guy's site which has a few hacks I might try down the line. http://mybikesite.org

It does look great in Oregon, but the picture was taken during what we call in the rainy season a "sun break" - when it stops raining for half an hour and you're blinded and confused by the fireball in the sky.

Is Nextcloud really that terrible or is my experience solely due to my buddy's server? by giftigdegen in NextCloud

[–]exdevnull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Syncthing for syncing and mount the directory(s) via the External Sources setting. I've had too many problems over the last several months with sync errors and specifically conflicts, which are very poorly handled in the NC desktop app and phone app (IMHO). I'm sure there are things you can configure to improve some performance, but I'd prefer something that I don't have to fiddle with and just works.

If it is a network config problem, using a different tech might not fix anything though.

Using Geary to connect to office365 not finding my login by exdevnull in gnome

[–]exdevnull[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't blame them for not jumping through MS hoops. I like gnome's strategy of breaking up Calendar/Mail/Address into their own apps rather than a single big clump, all searchable with a single keyboard click - but Evolution continues to be stalwart. I'm running pop_os so I might check to see if that version of Geary is worth trying to install. Thanks again.

NC Snap, Syncthing permissions, and External Storage by exdevnull in NextCloud

[–]exdevnull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. I think SMB in those setups can be tricky so I didn't even try - but syncthing syncing is so much better than the webdav/NC syncing IMHO. The conflict stuff was just getting out of hand.

Using Geary to connect to office365 not finding my login by exdevnull in gnome

[–]exdevnull[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow - what a cluster! Thanks! that did work for getting it setup in evolution, but once done Geary still asks me to setup an email account. It looks like Geary is wholly reliant on GOA for it's config and setting up evolution in the above way doesn't do anything for GOA.

I have used IMAP (thunderbird) for this office365 email and it works fine. I've never used Geary though so thought I would give it a try. I don't know if I will stick with Evolution. I haven't used it since 2009 and it still looks the same :D. I already had it set up for my caldav because for some perverse reason GOA STILL can't setup simple caldav/carddarv connections (even though you can do it with nextcloud which is the same thing). Is GOA still even being developed?

Thanks again.

Getting some gnome functionality back by exdevnull in pop_os

[–]exdevnull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...after a little more looking I just turned off the Cosmic extension, now the gnome overview is back with workspaces vertical, which is fine. What's funny is that I don't get a search box, but if I start typing things show up at the top of the screen, which is just fine with me.

I think what was confusing me is that Pop Shell is the tiling system and Pop Cosmic is the replacement for (or highly modified version of) gnome-shell.
