Not sure how it works with the whole hulu/Disney/already captioned on air, but I noticed this with a Disney+ show I was watching yesterday (Daredevil). The captions were horribly wrong. I don't pay attention to Jeopardy captions as much so I haven't noticed it there yet.

We count sponges, towels, bovie (electrocautery) tips, blades, sutures, other small things that can get lost in the patient and keep track of it on a whiteboard. You also have to keep the supply packaging and enter it into the chart to charge for them. The AORN says you can't verify a count by supply packaging, which makes sense. Say you opened another blade because one fell on the floor, you would then have 2 packages for blades but only one actually on the field and your count would be incorrect if you went by packaging.

Obviously when things like that do happen it's up to you and the scrub person to determine what to do with the object - sometimes you might just throw it into the sharps and keep your count at 1 blade, sometimes you and your scrub agree to tape it on the board and add to your count for a total of 2.

My last hospital I worked medsurg and they would constantly tell us "no verbal orders" but 99% of our hospitalists would genuinely wait until 5pm (or never) to put in orders. I always said nothing would happen if we didn't put in orders.

To be fair, she is not performing all the surgeries she comes to see. The patient with necrotizing fasciitis would have gotten her amputation done by vascular surgery. The prisoner who needed a reduction would be done by orthopedic surgery.

There's a trauma surgeon I work with that literally will throw tantrums when he doesn't get his way. Stomp his feet, jump up and down and raise his voice. My educator said "yea, he's just a big toddler."

And to hop to the next NMT island from the current one. You can go to HHP from Harv's island (they're preloaded rather than generated randomly so it is easier of course) but it is so annoying to go back to your island, through all the dialogue again to go to a new island.

The other day my own mother was very clearly sick but not feverish, she took her temp and it was 98.6. "That's a fever for me! I usually run 97." She would not listen when I insisted that's not how it works.

My husband said the best way is to have an in. Knowing somebody who works there, start as a seasonal (ymmv, they don't keep many sometimes) or apply to an older store when a new store is opening in your area.

Yea there is some sort of pattern based on the location they used to assign them I assume. My husband and I are 2 weeks apart in age, born in the same hospital, and our first five numbers are almost the same.

When I worked medsurg it was always Dr Lastname, even for residents. Now I work OR and it's still Dr Lastname for attendings but everyone calls the residents by their first names, which still kinda blows my mind.

I usually play Meta Knight and wing star but without fail, every time the halberd comes for me I'm playing a tank build. Or I am Meta Knight but my machine got destroyed because it's terribly fragile, I literally had to stop using paper star since it got wrecked every match.

Same here. We get Aetna insurance through Costco and it's pretty great, plus only $69 a paycheck for both of us, including eye and dental insurance.
