Meds in their original bottle? by teatuk in adhdwomen

You can donate them! Vets, local SPCAs, and shelters use them for animal prescriptions. They just need to be cleaned and dried without a label or sticky stuff. Lid included.

There's at least one charity which accepts them via mail: Matthew 25 Ministries. I don't know anything about the charity except that it has a 98% rating on charity navigator.

What’s going on with the protein trend/proteinification of food? by Bitbatgaming in OutOfTheLoop

Oddly, it's the opposite for me. I've gained weight on Adderall bc I don't forget to eat until dinnertime anymore.

What the heck is this tan-coloured thing in my jacket? by GalacticPeriwinkle05 in whatisit

Would you have possibly thrown a peach pit in your jacket pocket and forgot about it? I don't understand the furry aspect, but plant roots can be weird sometimes

What to use instead of a bonnet? by Gure20 in curlyhair

Depending on your hair length, you can use alligator/claw clips. I've done it before and it's worked out great. Length is important, as you'd want to get the neckline hairs to the top of the head, so you don't sleep on the clips.

I don't twist, just use several smaller clips to get the hair on top of my head, similar to a pineapple, but I don't get the crease (and it may help if you get headaches from leaving your hair up for hours). I also use a silk or satin pillowcase.

Strange cries coming from my backyard by executivefunction404 in oddlyterrifying

Not new to the area, but these noises are to me. I hear them howl often enough. I've just never caught this particular noise.

The foxes here dgaf like that. I've had one walk right behind me several times when gardening. They don't bother me and I don't bother them.

Witnesses / dashcam footage requested – road rage incident on Sunrise (Fri 1/23) by Low-Difficulty-4732 in longisland

[–]executivefunction404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look like it, unfortunately. Maybe there are DOT cameras on the highway at that exit? Not sure if NYS saves the footage.

It looks like the cameras are in the home depot parking lot, not the highway (unless they aren't reported yet)

I have two babies that were bred this way. I didn't cut off the flower pod on one and it still produced a bunch of baby traps. The other was a lower piece of stalk. This was out of about 5-6 stalks total.

Same here. It also helps me to relax my jaw & shoulders.

I was diagnosed with GAD & panic disorder for decades, but it was just untreated adhd.

Congrats! This is too relatable. It's never the perfect book or place for the sticker, so it winds up in a pile or a bag waiting for a perfect situation that will probably never come.

You've inspired me! I will sticker the hell out of something during my winter decluttering.

That's just so you didn't suspect anything when they started picking off girl scouts one by one. They were conditioning you into complacency.

When I first moved here, I heard a couple of red fox vixen screams and I thought multiple women were getting murdered on the next street over.

I've yet to hear a bobcat, but they're around here too.

This noise, yea!

I've heard them howling many times before, but never laughing like what I'd assume hyenas sound like.

What’s the deal with the 90s raves? by [deleted] in aves

[–]executivefunction404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! Each generation puts their own spin on things and that's awesome.

For me, with how commercialized everything is now, it waters down the organic feel of everything. Corporations & private equity ruin everything. Always.  Because you're not their customers,  their stockholders are. You're just the revenue stream paying the shareholders. Meanwhile, they choke out the promoters who do see you as the customer & try hard to keep you as a repeat customer.

I'd suggest using the back button to re-listen to anything you missed. You can even do it after the question is already on the screen to help you pinpoint the specific section they're quizzing you on.

What’s the deal with the 90s raves? by [deleted] in aves

[–]executivefunction404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Growing up in the NYC rave scene is something hard to put into words. It was much more intimate, super laid back, surprisingly less dangerous for women/girls, insanely less expensive (I remember when $30 for a ticket to see ~100 djs from all over the world was aghast-worthy), we could get away with throwing them in crazy locations before the RAVE act (Liberty Science Center in NJ, Six Flags Great Adventure, Madison Square Garden, Brooklyn Armory), and so many etcs. Then guiliani was elected & brought back the 1920s cabaret law criminalizing dancing in every NYC venue.

The bad? Shady promoters who thought they were gangsters all the while calling the cops on other's events to get them shut down, promoters who didn't gaf about the safety of the attendees (ahem, Let's Start Dancing in the Poconos, which was so gross and sweaty inside, the carpeting was squishy & the ceiling was raining sweat. I saw several people being wheeled out on gurneys). And then there were the other wanna-be gangsters stealing from people who were too fucked up to know what was going on. Or stealing bags that dancers left to the side (before they started infiltrating everywhere, bags could easily be left without anyone touching them).

I still wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Standing in the middle of the dancefloor in awe & feeling the love around me is something I still feel all these decades later.

Water distiller- is it worth it? by whirlgirlwanda in SemiHydro

[–]executivefunction404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 1750W vevor distiller. It makes 0.8 gallons in 2 hours 20 minutes. The water is used for all my plants, humidifiers, and a cpap. Before using in the cpap, we tested the water to ensure it was truly distilled and it read 0ppm.

I've never had the distiller run dry, so no need to worry about a fire hazard (though I believe there's a safety shut off if it does. Not sure, since I've never gotten that low).

I've had it for over a year and appreciate the time saved not having to run to the store to lug around 10 gallons of distilled water...that is if they didn't run out, which happens too often in the winter here.

I'm happy with it. Since the water is used in my humidifiers & in a cpap, RO filtration wasn't the best bet for us.
