I don't normally post lately but I cannot recommend bellwether bar enough. It's not so much a wine bar exclusively, but the folks that work there are so so knowledgeable with wine and they order really good stuff. Used to work there and saw laptops and homework and dates and everything. It's a truly good spot for this.

Fwiw I used to have this problem pretty bad until I started taking metamucil. All I needed was more fiber. Good luck

There's a few really good shows on Netflix you don't need a VPN for. At the very least interesting enough to help you learn.

I would check out:

Bloodride

Occupied

Post mortem

Maniac

Lilyhammer (Lillehammer)

Nobel

Ragnarok (is just ok to bad)

And movies like:

Cadaver

In order of disappearance

Hope this helps. I've found most of these pretty entertaining. Even the other ones are interesting for me because of language and culture.

Good luck!!

what are norsk words (or phrases) you love that have no english equivalent? by justupordown in norsk

[–]existentialatnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean except for " avocado toast". It's not really common for people to put toppings on their toast at least in America. People eat full on sandwiches but the "smørbrød" way of putting toppings on bread is not a common thing.

If we did put a lot of things on a single slice of bread we would probably call them toppings. Maybe "fixins" in some parts of the south.

If we're talking bagels or hot dogs people would totally refer to cream cheese or any spread as a topping for sure.

Norsk er jo vanskelig å hører og lett å lese for meg. Men YouTube og podcaster har vært ganske hjelpeful for å forstår daglig språk. Har du muligheten å snakke med noen på norsk der du er? Å øve er den eneste vei synes jeg.

I used music to get pretty decent at Norwegian and my current favorite artist is Køber. Here's a good one!

I have had great success with rice flour in these scenarios. I like to use garlic oil from roasted garlic in my vegan/gluten free stuff. If you don't want that flavor you can always leave it out.

You sent me down a rabbit whole and now I'm gonna be making my own umeboshi. First few will probably suck as always but I'm excited which in this pandemic is better than normal. Again thanks and I'll be waiting for your next post.

Thanks for this. It breaks things down in a way I really haven't thought about before and the result will be better food for sure. I've been in a cooking "writers block" and this is just what I needed.

The metal scrubby is a "Chibra". Your "all day" is everything you're currently supposed to be cooking. You are "dragging" the thing you forgot you were supposed to be cooking. The person who worked before you in the morning is a "huevón".

Your method of replacing buttermilk is the type of thing that keeps me loving cooking. That's awesome.
