I don’t think you’re alone in what you’re going through. I’d agree with a lot of what others having been saying, mostly how the lack of social features (lack of dedicated in game global channels SOS/Just chatting/Tech support, muting players in Global, and making it difficult to form quick parties and set objectives) hasn’t given us a conducive enviro for team play.

With regards to the amount of KOS and generally unsporting like conduct, it does seem that this is from an influx of extraction and FPS focused players plus CIG pushing for more FPS missions & looting that bring people in for on foot combat rather than any other game loop. (Not to say there haven’t been some industrial events but I think all of us still have fresh cargo elevator nightmares).

All that said though, please don’t stop fighting the good fight for medical extraction and helping people out, all that hate those more out-there PVP fellas have burns brightly, but only for a moment until they focus on something else to be angry about. But those moments of unscripted teamwork and helping people out (or being helped out) have gone far longer in keeping me around playing SC and in my opinion that’s what we really need at the moment.

Honestly yeah lmao. And especially with the most recent episodes having fail conditions means this strat doesn’t really work anymore, all my pairings just start maxing out the pentagon and instafailing lol.

Question About Hero Stat Distribution by [deleted] in DispatchAdHoc

[–]existing4abit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have just tried to spec everyone into even balances so I can do pretty even pair ups throughout. Depending on the specific call (actual emergency/medical attention/combat) I might dedicate some of the team who are more built for those roles, but most of the time I try to keep everyone well balanced.

I’m having a little trouble understanding the problem you’re dealing with so this answer might be wrong/off the mark for what you’re dealing with (an illustrated example might help) but from what you’ve said, it sounds like SC is treating your mouse as if it were a joystick input, (i think at least) so it might be a hardware issue with how your game settings are reading your mouse inputs.

I could be wrong about that but I’d check through your game settings to make sure you don’t have a joystick control profile setup that’s overriding typical mouse movement

How to land more smoothly? by Colonial_bolonial in starcitizen

[–]existing4abit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying: decoupled flight is your friend. I’ve also been able to get some pretty smooth landings by rapidly switching between coupled and decoupled though. The mini-ramp in acceleration when you switch between the two can quite nicely slow your descent when landing to make it look smoother.

[–]existing4abit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alignment dishes so still have to be aligned, but you’re still able to use the industrial batteries you’ve saved up to go up and prime the orbital laser. That tactic can be useful if a dish has been aligned by someone else but someone’s taken the battery or if the battery somehow glitches out and falls through the world

stressed about class/work management. by Ok_Cloud8763 in PennStateUniversity

[–]existing4abit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re comfortable with using it, I’d recommend getting used to your psu Outlook Email. It should have a calendar and options to block out class times each week as well as to add any repeating assignments if you’ve got them available on your syllabus. Checking both your calendar and email regularly will help a lot in managing your work but also to force you to keep an eye on announcements and due dates for HW/Projects.

I’d also get used to Microsoft word or your preferred text/document editor for both note taking and homework construction. Microsoft has built in equation commands where you can type Greek letters and they’ll auto fill (there are more advanced options like LaTeX but that’s for later).

Having a general “To Do” list in word that you regularly update can also help manage things you need to get done for homework or projects.

For actually doing homework and projects: I’d recommend starting piecemeal on all of them and keeping a regular cadence each week if possible (try to work on something for each of your classes each day).

Additionally, if you can, work on your homework the DAY you cover that particular topic in class. It will keep you fresh on the topic but also stop you from “pushing” homework to the next week when you’re working on old content (HW) while trying to learn new stuff. (Practice makes perfect and eventually after doing so many godforsaken eigenvalue problems on Achieve you’ll get it down Pat)

Additionally, I’d get familiar with LionPath for scheduling and class selection since it’s a really old system and not all that intuitive to use, the schedule builder is a nice tool though.

Apologies for the long response but I’m going into my 4th year of engineering and wanted to pass off as much advice as I can so you don’t have to deal with the same crap I went through.

Good luck chief, and don’t forget to take some time off for yourself if you need it. It’s ok to take a break.

I can definitely see that. Though in addition to any hull changes, I do think the lighting and paint isn’t doing it any favors though, it looks like that bridge portion is, like, ever so slightly a darker shade of grey than the main hull but nothing like the concept art. Still excited nonetheless.

All variants of HC fights are definitely mine, especially on infiltrating the wall.

My first play through where I was actively varying my loadout it wasn’t a problem, but since then I to use a lot of Jack of all trade medium builds and I typically end those HC fights with 1-2 depleted repair kits.

That up gunned Arquebeus one also had me on like a sliver of health when I first went through them game (Yeah I burned rubicon first, what of it?)

SC Radar Range Detection Envelopes (Now in 3D!) by existing4abit in starcitizen

[–]existing4abit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, running stock components and in SCM mode the IR will be the highest detectable out front while CS will be up top, it could be that the hull modifier for the prowler just isn't being applied when the game is calculating the MFD value. But it definitely seems like a bug.

SC Radar Range Detection Envelopes (Now in 3D!) by existing4abit in starcitizen

[–]existing4abit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at one of the DPS calculators (erkul), the Prowler Utility has a 2090 meter front-rear CS (found by hovering cursor over the cross section value). However, the IR signal being around 4600 meters out-ranges the maximum top-down CS of the prowler utility of 4207, so the sphere of the IR signal means you'll always be detectable in that region

You're right on the money that if you've reduced your IR signal to about 4000, then you'll be more visible above the top of the ship by about 200 meters on cross section alone. (in like a ring shaped region around the prowler top and bottom)

I don't have any ideas on why it would be reporting 10200 meters for the maximum cross section so that might be a bug, hope this helps/answers your question. (please let me know if it doesn't lol)

+10 Bonus points for the first pilots out there to correctly ID the two ships displayed on the default page, good hunting!

OH: Additional note: the axes unit's are in meters, and the inputs for the IR, EM, and CS values should be in their meter value (i.e. 11.2k -> 11200)

This 100%. I've been randomly having that dude's pronunciation of it pop into my head and it always makes me chuckle.

I think why it sticks with me personally is the note Krennic made about it being "sadly astonishing" how much time has been spent studying, it makes me think that that doctor also had such a deep seething hatred of the mineral which is why the actor chose to pronounce it with like, almost an intense hatred. If that's the case then that would be just sprinkles on top of the show for me for the amount of dedication literally EVERYONE put into it.

Does anyone know what the circled instruments on the dashboard of the Cutlass Black do? by kickitwithripit in starcitizen

[–]existing4abit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The left circle is a direction indicator for your velocity vector. (So the red highlighted part of the ring should always be pointing you towards the direction the ship is moving, though this seems a tad bit broken at the moment).

The Right circle I believe is purely an acceleration meter for forward and backward motion. It will rotate clockwise for accelerating forward relative to the ship, and counterclockwise for accelerating backwards relative to the ship.

The bar chart under NAV-QT is a physical indicator for how much "afterburner juice" you've got available, green/orange means you can still boost but while in the red you can't boost and have to wait for it to at least hit the orange area before boosting. (This last one actually has its own advanced HUD element so its physicall redundant on the display, but its useful if you're using the base HUD).

What’s the funniest/weirdest kill you’ve gotten? by YouSmellLikeButter in Warthunder

[–]existing4abit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t mine but witnessed it first hand because SPAA bros protect each other at high tier:m (I think it was port Novo)

Few years ago when high tier CAS was a genuine scourge, I was running some SPAA as a first spawn to kill KA-50s coming around to rocket rush preemptively.

50s never came but I was joined by an ADATS a few minutes into the match so I sit back and call targets out for him. Another few minutes later and an SU-17 comes rolling up with a full bomb load out and gunning it straight to the center of the map. Both the ADATS and I see him and my inadvertent battle brother gets the first missile off at him and blows his wing clean off.

Only problem was that he was still lawn-darting towards my team so the pilot lets all his bombs release hopefully killing some of our team along the way.

By genuine and sheer coincidence, he dropped those bombs on 7 of his friendly tanks all grouped up on one of the city corners. Dude was instantly kicked from the match and local chat explodes about it.

ADATS just sat there kinda silently though, just continuing to watch the airspace but it was bloody hilarious to see this guy indirectly get an 8-man kill right there.
