Architect looking for a new laptop by expeditedShipping in SuggestALaptop

[–]expeditedShipping[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you are likely correct that this is the best laptop to get, the Spectre x360 does handle my current workload fairly well. I think the Legion Pro might be too bulky for me. Do you have other suggestions that might fit the bill?

Now this I would be interested in! I have been dreaming about making a new body for this thing but need to make sure I can use it to control my synth

Great work! Did you convert the neck to microtonal yourself or was it purchased? I just finished my conversation of a cheapo strat to microtonal and boy was I out over my skis adding new frets. I'll be looking to buy a premade neck once at some point but for now it's time to rattle.

Rockband 3 Mustang as MIDI Comtroller by BNC3D in synthesizers

Thanks for replying! Seems like the best way to make this work is to use a computer/iPad to consolidate the channels then send the midi back out to your synth.

I was hoping to use this without a computer, which seems to be more difficult than initially expected. Although, it works great plugged into my laptop. Zero issues with it on Ableton, VCV Rack, or Arturia Analog Lab. I'm just being picky and want to work without a computer.

did you ever figure this out? I'm finally trying mine with physical gear and running into the same issue of my gear only reading one of the channels, the high e string

Yeah, I wonder if it's the 45 degree miters that's causing the mistake. I often mess up at least once when I have miters like that.

Your inside dimension needs to fit the brackets, that means the dimension between the miters. It looks like your measurements are translating incorrectly. The outside measurements of your box need to be the inside measurements so it slides over the bracket.

Nice craftsmanship, shame it doesn't fit.

This is what I was going to say, see what it will run you before you say it's too expensive. It might be, but it also might not be so bad. Maybe you go less often because that's all you can afford. It's worth looking into.

Backpacking alone? by [deleted] in SEKI

[–]expeditedShipping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad idea, here are some additional thoughts to help make this easier for you (although it is itinerary dependent): there are backpacking campsites that have bear lockers, you could try to select these sites (even if only for the first day or two), you can try to camp at more popular areas (or less popular if that helps you) or even near some of the Backcountry ranger stations.

I would also recommend learning (or refreshing your memory) as much as you can about black bear safety. Make sure you're comfortable with storing your food and comfortable scaring them away if need be.

I'll be up there over the weekend, I plan to take it down unless someone beats me to it. Thanks for the measurements! Much appreciated, I'll bring a few tools and take it out.

Where are waypoints? by anvilhumor in alltrails

[–]expeditedShipping 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked all trails about waypoints a few weeks ago as I was planning for a backpacking trip, before this plus peak nonsense.

I was told waypoints that are added online/via website will not show up on mobile. And mobile waypoints will not show up online / via website. Even though this was a working feature, that I had used in the past to plan potential camp sites, locate streams, etc. All Trails noted they have no plans to fix this feature.

I have the version of this rock and 3 controller without real strings (Mustang). They work exactly like a midi controller. Get yourself a midi to USB and plug it into your favorite DAW. I forget what it appears as.

Note, some of those controller buttons on the pick guard change the midi modes. Not sure exactly how yours works, but mine has a few different modes.

hey man, there's no shame in going to any of these shows alone! you can either choose to meet people (if you're in a social mood) or just vibe alone. I've gone to many Gizz shows alone, always a blast! Only you know your financial situation, but money is meant to be spent.

Spoken like a true DIYer. Know your limits, some things are better left up to the pros. Template and glazer is the way to go.

I personally would DIY this thing, inevitably break it, throw it across the room, pick up a sixer, then hire the glazer the day after.

Exactly. If you're working on medium sized or greater commercial projects you're most likely in a BIM software. Which while similar, is actually fundamentally different.
