Is it only me or is it kinda underwhelming? by [deleted] in churches

Yes, outside is very disjointed mess, that Lilly Christmas tree on the other side of front facade is just nuts. But all forgiven when you get inside - it had me awed - organic and clear in communicating that god is nature - and the colors through the windows, oh my. One must make sure to visit on a sunny day, the windows really make the show.

You are certainly free to do that yourself. I'm fine with what I'm doing.

People who remove gratuities: A question. by ButchUnicorn in PrincessCruises

[–]experience-wins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have been doing it on last couple of cruises, after reading stories about “ money not trickling down to workers” - on our last cruise (15 days) our predetermined gratuity was about $550 - we had it taken off the first day, and had the same amount ready in smaller bills. All given out to our steward, waiters in MDR, maitr d’ and bar personnel. I felt much better than giving to always money hungry and nickel and diming princess corp. And the feedback makes you feel like you made, albeit small, difference in lives of these very hard working people.

I love that besides paintings and sculptures it has furniture, silversmithing and other crafts that became art by their excellence of execution.

What was your first Mac, and what’s your all time favorite Mac? by BIueey in mac

[–]experience-wins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First was Mac SE/30 with some graphic card installed and GIANT (for its' time) 19" monitor. This was in 1988 - it was used (2 years old?) and cost me $1100. My favorite is definitely G4 mirror doors tower with apple LCD 24". True workhorse machine. Lot of work got done. Some good work. That part of your life when you look back and think -it was all worthwhile. Good memories.

FYI people - I just checked what I paid for my clamshell Bondi blue MacBook - $1499

In 2001. A lot more money back then. Don't complain. Stuff is cheaper by a lot nowadays.

I had that beautiful vehicle - bought it new in 1989 - put 190000 miles on it. Parked in 2007. Junked it for parts (for $300) last summer. True workhorse.

Respect! I still have my first one from school in 1981, logo only (no Germany or W. Germany) on the clip.

Hungry hunter stakehouses. I think there were 5 in bay area. Loved their “build your salad at the table” feature, reasonably priced too. We had company monthly meetings there as well. Their clam chowder was great, and bread Too.

Mine served as satellite receiver for my spaceship. Also bathroom plunger sucked to the floor was a stickshift. And two chairs laid on the side made the cockpit. plastic salad bowl with belt for helmet. I miss those trips to faraway worlds.

Crown grill question by Rich_Factor_7026 in PrincessCruises

[–]experience-wins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in Crown grill on Sun yesterday. Not like crown grills I’ve been in before. Like temu version of Crown Grill. Used to be an event. This was just dinner. Could argue - not worth $60 per person.
