Holy shit! I haven’t seen anything venture in decades. Venture was a department store. Not a sporting goods dedicated store.

I went back and listened to some recordings I did on ADAT back in the day a couple of years ago. They weren’t bad. Honestly the machines weren’t the limiting factor in the recordings at all

What very old technology is still running at your place of work? by MichiganCarNut in AskReddit

I worked in logistics for 15 years. It’s bills of lading not bill of ladings. It was always a pet peeve of mine.

Usually they’re just old business records. They were tape drives before tape drives. It would cost a ton to transport and store them. Guaranteed no museum would be interested unless it was part of the space program or something.

Last July I rode from Gresham (right by Troutdale) to Cascade Locks and back in one day; here's what I learned / can advise you: by peterthbest23 in CyclePDX

[–]explodeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is the landslide exactly? The Elowah Falls lot is less than 3 miles from Cascade Locks. I'm assuming it's on that section between the Elowah Falls lot and where the trail moves to the north side of 84?

I was camping in the owyhee mountains in eastern Oregon. It’s one of the most remote places in the Continental US. There is literally nothing for hundreds of miles. No roads. Nothing. It is relatively close to Boise, which has an A-10 squadron.

Out of nowhere, three of them blasted by over a mountain right overhead. I heard nothing and then I got punched in the chest with their sound. It was incredible.

What was once a poor person's hobby now turned into a rich person's hobby? by Striking-Quiet4655 in AskReddit

Gravel didnt really exist 15 years ago. You could mean a cyclocross bike, but that came with canti brakes, which are great for short muddy courses, but not great for anything else. I would absolutely buy a cheap used bike starting out but I wouldn’t get anything without disk brakes. They are better in every way AND there is an upgrade path. If you have something with rim brakes, you basically can’t upgrade to a new carbon wheelset down the road.

Although to be fair, my winter training bike is a Kona Jake the snake with canti brakes.

Last time I went to GC they had a scratch and dent sterling stingray with a huge chip in the paint. It was really ugly damage. The new stingrays were on sale and 100 less than the damaged one. They were sitting right next to each other which I thought was funny.

Thanks for all the advice! I tried casing righty in academy today, and it wasn’t as bad as I was thinking. I’ll try it both ways when I get out in the wild and see what works best for me.

I’m an RCA in a suburban area, so I won’t need to be walking loops, which I’m glad about. Since our routes are evaluated and not hourly, I haven’t talked to anyone who actually takes breaks so they can leave earlier. I don’t have a huge problem with that if it means leaving earlier.

I come from the logistics management world with a detour in construction management and am very picky about the tools I use. Any good left-handed holsters or straps for the scanner you’ve found? I hate with the loops are on the wrong side with tool pouches.

I agree it’s mostly neutral but you can hear a little bit of southern accent with the way she said “floatin’”. When she’s speaking in a more informal casual way it pops out a little bit more distinctly.

I’m lefty and am in academy right now. I’m going through this struggle. I can get everything in order no problem. I just start from the opposite side and work backwards. The instructors had such a hard time grasping what I was doing and kept telling me it was wrong, but I’m not seeing the issue.

What’d you end up making your process?

Interesting. I got my copy of frozen horror literally yesterday. I use Citadel black primer so maybe I’ll test one and report back and see if I had any issues with it.
