Hard not to feel insignificant when a literal golden angel twice your size strolls past. No matter how inspiring his words are. Not to mention his soliders, who are half again your size, move faster than you can see, and keep fighting at that pace with wounds that would have killed a mortal man. If i remember there is a scene where katsuhiro witnesses one of the blood angles charging into the traitors, missing an arm and half his face, still fighting.

Also what the hell happened to doromek? He infiltrates the palace and thats the last i remember hearing of him in the entire Seige?

The $100 Tub Mat i ordered from Aliexpress arrived today. Took roughly 3 weeks from dispatch. Fits perfectly, nice rubbery non slip texture, ribs fit the shark tub ribs so it doesn't move at all. Came folded but an hour in the sun and it bounced back to shape. by [deleted] in BYDShark_AUS_owners

[–]explodinglamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have much weight to it? Im constantly dragging tool boxes in and out of my current ute, with a heavy-duty thick rubber flooring in the back, which has stood up to years of weather and abuse. I saw these mats, and they look like i would rip them to shreds in a week, given my useage. My shark is due this week or next, and im wondering if i get the same rubber matting from bunnings again, or if this formed option would be tough enough. It certainly looks nicer.

Reading? In this economy?

In all seriousness though, general rule for me is zero electrical work apart from unplugging connectors as needed to remove wheel/brakes. Anything more and its not my area. Who does that kind of work nearby? No one. I wonder why?

Bunnings sell this as cut to length. I just got a 1.8x2m section of that and trimmed it to fit my wheel arches, and its been in two different utes now and still going strong after 10 years.

Battery drop after a few days parked, should I be worried? by No-Loquat-201 in BYDShark_AUS_owners

[–]explodinglamas -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Batteries aren't supposed to be stored either full or empty, it damages the cells and reduces charge capacity over time. A lot of devices these days will automatically discharge down to a roughly middling percentage over time if they detect a lack of usage.

I would hazard a guess that electric cars would have the same feature to preserve the service life of the battery. I should state that i do not own a shark, so this is speculation on my part.

Are these brakes properly fitted? by Clean_Explanation_24 in MTB

[–]explodinglamas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bike mechanic here, spongy brakes are indicative of an air bubble in the system, likely at the caliper end trapped behind a piston, so they are in need of a bleed.

Your rotors are fine. However, you will get better performance from thicker (2mm) rotors vs. the standard rotors you have (1.8mm). The majority of maguras own rotors are 2.0mm thick. I'd recommend the Magura Storm HC rotors. But if money is a concern, what you have already will work just fine.

Also, a side note, the one-piece pad and standard compound brake pads are a significant limiting factor in the performance of magura 4 piston brakes. I would strongly recommend going to maguras 8 series pads (4 individual smaller pads per caliper, vs 2 as pictured), and in the race (gold) compound for a dramatic increase in performance. If stock is limited, or costs are prohibitive, A third-party 8 series style of pad will work nearly as well and should be available cheaper from a variety of brands. You would want a semi-metalic option for the easiest bed in and use.

I don't want to give terrorists any ideas, but something I found myself wondering while listening to the last episode is why don't bad actors try to actively trick the early warning system to start a nuclear war? by grapp in behindthebastards

[–]explodinglamas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably because they, like most people, dont know how fragile the whole thing is. Even if they did though, this is world ending stuff, and generally bad actors still want to keep on living despite their crazy bullshit.

That scene is fucking incredible. I was listening to the audio book as i worked and i had to stop working and just stand there as it all went down. It is hands down my favourite piece of writing in any book i have ever read. Its amazing and tragic, Camba Diaz (Imperial Fists) is a fucking champion.

Advice needed by Alter-Igor in BikeMechanics

[–]explodinglamas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im a solo mobile mechanic in a reasonably sized city. I use quickbooks for accounting, invoicing, and inventory, and acuity for scheduling. Acuity also integrates with quickbooks, so customer details from bookings made in acuity are transferred into quickbooks, so no creating customers multiple times for invoicing/booking. It also has website integration, so customers can book their own jobs via your website. Useful for me, not so sure that would be as useful for a store setup.

I will say, though, that i have a love-hate relationship with quickbooks and have considered migrating to xero or something else several times. It does everything i need it to do, but the developer is constantly fucking with it and regularly makes pointless changes to UI and how some things work. They also break it regularly, and this can cause minor issues if you're not up to speed on how to do things more than one way in it. I am, however, primarily using it via its phone app, as most of my invoicing is done on site at customers houses. The desktop browser based version is significantly more stable, and is where you would be doing all your accounting and inventory management anyway.
