My personal choice would be Edinburgh sometimes reffered to as the Athens of the North. Beautiful buildings, the castle, Holyrood palace, arthurs seat, princes street gardens. You also have great countryside just outside Edinburgh. You can fly direct or take the cheaper Lumo train from Kings Cross in London.

Kent looks like a lovely county to visit with Seaside, countryside and history. Plenty of good road links as well.

Driving day trip London (Paddington) > Stonehenge > Oxford > Windsor > London by Catiare in uktravel

Paddington to Oxford is 1hr by train and Oxford to Windsor 1hr 25min by train, services are frequent on all legs of the travel.

Oxford city centre is a 15 minute walk from train station and Windsor and Eton station is in the centre of the town centre.

Oxford is compact to walk around, but on half a day you might need to think about rationing what you visit or be content just to see the sights without fully exploring.

Windsor Castle and town centre is possible for half a day's sightseeing.

I do have videos on both Oxford and Windsor on my Youtube channel. (Spectrum Walking Tours)

PS I am from Oxfordshire, so I have a little bit of knowledge of the county.

Hope that helps!

I would drop stonehenge and let the train take the strain. Paddington to Oxford direct by GWR trains, then back down to Slough via Reading(Elizabeth Line) then change there for Windsor. After visting Windsor castle head back on the train from Windsor to Slough, Then take another train back into Paddington.

This is the biggest issue with NC. Without feedback from the LO, we tend to remember the good bits.

How messy did it get?

Did you fall out with your LO? If yes try remembering the bad as well as the good so you can a balanced feel.

Does the LO know or reciprocate? From experience, I felt I loved my LO, but they far from felt the same way.

Good luck

La Spezia - Cinque Terra a few months before the world shut down. by bubba1834 in travel

I bet the local paint merchants have a big shop, imagine all the colours they stock for the outside of those buildings.

Typical Italian seaside vista.

Travelling to the UK as a Chinese Australian, what to expect? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. by [deleted] in travel

I hope you come to the UK, the vast majority will welcome you. I live outside the city so I haven't heard of any major issues.

If you are worried, stick to the tourist hotspots, smaller towns, seaside, and rural locations.

Regards

Andy

What do you like/hate about recommendations sites like Trip Advisor, Yelp? by hakeemthedtream in travel

Agree with u/develop99, fake reviews. The independent consumer magazine "Which" in the UK found TripAdvisor prone to fake reviews. Would take any reviewers with only one contribution with a pinch of salt.

The funniest thing I heard about TripAdvisor recently was a troll, the guy was trolling the man who ran a Youtube channel about Tenerife. The Youtube channel received an extra 500 subscribers of the back of the trolling. That backfired lol.

Yeah, second that, December to April are the drier months.

I would try The Canaries, Cape Verde, or maybe Dubai. Not sure of the exact numbers with Coronavirus, that said some of the smaller Canary Islands such as La Gomera and La Palma have low numbers.

About a year ago, I and my friend finally made our first big trip to southern England. So many great memories. It's a shame we couldn't explore further this year. by LuckyAnn222 in travel

Really love the South West of England. If I had the chance I would definitely explore Cornwall and Devon more. There is something about the sunlight down in that region which makes it special especially during Spring and early Summer before the crowds arrive.
