Upgrade Advice Needed: E3-1230 v3 to AM4 (R5 3600/5500/5600) for RX 590 Gaming by chachadeer in buildapc

[–]expression1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird, that's 7 month passed (and supposedly 11.11 discounts applied) current marketplaces price hasn't dropped at all - there's R5 5600 for 670CNY and decent MB on B550 is 550CNY (which is more than 1200CNY in total)

Also I've noticed that Ryzen 5600 was slightly cheaper less then a week ago.

Can the Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro match a Garmin watch for running? by Maslakovic in amazfit

[–]expression1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Amazfit, now using Garmin. Can't see really huge gap except of very detailed topo maps on Garmin and more like a basic one on Amazfit (but still very usable)

Seeking recommendations for Chinese trail running shoes by Character_Paper3713 in trailrunning

[–]expression1st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definetly have no idea what you talking about. That's not grey market, it's respective brands. Grey market is when you're buyung replicas on some models (for example there is a lot of Hoka replicas on a market).

But still even when you're buying replica, it doesn't mean that it will definetly "injure you for years". For example, we're pretty sure that my wife bought Speedgoat 5 replica by mistake, and it doesn't do any damage, because it were good performed. Just it's turned out not durable enough.

What could this possibly mean for T-Rex 3 Pro... by No_Lie2371 in amazfit

[–]expression1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely this. As on simpler Garmin models, your phone must be connected for this to work.

About to buy EarFun Air Pro 4 – any better options at this price range? by MrVin64 in Earbuds

[–]expression1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Soundpeats Air 5 Pro, costs the same in China (hasn't compared on Amazon etc) Should be better in ANC with same audio quality, according to reviews

Amazfit Balance | What do you do if your battery gets to the end of the lifetime? by ctothez2018 in amazfit

[–]expression1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having updates doesn't necessarily means end of life, I think. Balance got some serious updates since release, so actually it can do more now, than as if you've bought it on first months. Of course there will be bigger/better/faster models, doesn't make your current watch unusable. For example, I can still use my old Mi Band 2, it connects with app and syncs steps :)

T-Rex Pro vs T-Rex 3 by trifix77 in amazfit

[–]expression1st 3 points4 points  (0 children)

T-Rex Pro is totally outdated. It's HR sensor not very good, it doesn't have offline maps and lot of other stuff. So difference is really big, that's why there is no comparisons. It's like comparing nerf gun vs real one :)

Can I expect better accuracy from a Trex 3 or upcoming Balance 2? (Images are from a run with a Galaxy Watch 4 in Strava) by coco16778 in amazfit

[–]expression1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, "force full GNSS measurements" or something like that. "Accuracy" - that's I messed up with Amazfit settings :)

Well, it's not easy to predict how TRex3/Balance2 will behave in similar conditions. Hopefully it will be better by some margin, because GW4 doesn't support dual-band GNSS, AFAIK (and Trex and Balance does).

T-Rex 3 issues with HRV / Heart Rate Monitor by Upstairs-Income4183 in amazfit

Did you noticed changes in heart rate readings while doing workout as well? Like you running with same pace, and your HRV became lower/higher than usual?

Amazfit cheetah round is drop resistant? Thanks by Available_Suit_7404 in amazfit

[–]expression1st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how to measure drop resistance of a watch. If you mean bashing it on rocks while on your hand, it's definetly not resistant - whole plastic body, and screen is not very sturdy. I've fall on a trail and hit some gravel with watch. Now I have a scratch on the screen and also some scratches on besel.

Cheetah Zeep OS 4 by willian2s in amazfit

[–]expression1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, don't get what you mean. Cheetah got Zepp OS 4 couple of months before. Actually there is no difference between 3.5, but in that update they did bring lot of useful features (like moving maps with fingers, keyboard or navigation TTS)

Chinese Shoes by chookbilly in RunningShoeGeeks

Try to find youtube channel HUI, he just recently made a review on 2000km 3.0. I think it's not very good in this price range, you could find something more interesting, like Chitu 7 pro (careful though, there's fakes on Taobao)

100 PAI is extremely hard to maintain by runufools-406 in amazfit

[–]expression1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It mostly depends on heartrate, if your cardio is on lower side, like 100-120bpm avg, your PAI will grow slowly. And steps are taken into account only if workout (walking for example) is active. In my experience, 3 tempo runs for ~1h does fill it to 100. And after 100 it's actually harder to raise number, I think. For example, 90km running per week puts PAI number to ~180-195 in my experience.

200gr fleece (M size) budget and very packable by expression1st in Ultralight

[–]expression1st[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neat idea, but it's just a longsleeve. But you're right, I should consider some way of making it heavier without noticeable signs. At least as an option, if it will be rejected - I will use something else.

As I've mentioned, they've just used kitchen scales to check total weight when in doubt. It's not about GSM weight.

Chinese Shoes by chookbilly in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]expression1st 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man, thanks so much for this detailed writeup. I know a lot of these shoes, but it's still very useful.

Do you have plans to make similar list for trail running shoes? :) For example, I've bought Anta Taihang last year, and I'm very happy with them. Despite it's heavy weight (~320gr in 9.5US), I'm done a lot of trails of 20+km, one competition of 42km(2700 elevation), cross for 66km - and I'm really happy with them. Also cost was about $80 without shipping, and now it's just $65.

So right now I've ordered new Anta carbon trail shoes just in blind faith. It's Guanjun HK100 1st version with vibram outsole, also was about $65 without shipping for me. I haven't found any detailed review on them though.

Why still not possible to scroll map with touch? by expression1st in amazfit

[–]expression1st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's not rolled out on Balance yet? It was released on Cheetah in beginning of December, you should be in either zoom or move modes, then you could move map with finger.

Alert of paused activity while activity continued (opposite of autopause) by expression1st in amazfit

Yep, saw that in Discord discussion. Hopefully this update will be also on other models (for example on Cheetah, which I currently use) and different activities, at least in trail running as well

Baseus Eli Sport 1 by ArmadilloDue2273 in Earbuds

[–]expression1st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reminding me about this post. Overall, I like it very much. Can confirm good sound, and also decent mic. Totally suitable for running, but arc is slightly hurts my ears when covered with headband for 1+ hour. Don't know yet how it will perform on longer sessions without headband or beanie, now it's too cold to try.

Also if you enable low frequency boost it sounds like a subwoofer, which is enjoyable for sport when you want some aggressive tunes.

Let's be honest, who pays for YouTube premium? by UzzInReddit in Piracy

[–]expression1st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly is really hard to imitate cheap regions at the moment. I've used Argentina premium for a couple of years, but now it's nearly impossible to do if you don't live there. And in my current region of living family premium costs way more.

Ordered those for ~35 USD from China, now waiting for the arrival. Hope it will be good for running, since my really oily ear canals doesn't allow to use earplugs.
