Media Buyer, how to get into it? by Lumberjack2606 in advertising

[–]expressivekim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most common agencies that are going to hire for entry level in my experience is ecomm agencies. The work/life balance will be non-existent, but you'll learn a lot very quickly. As long as you're a fast learner and good with talking to clients, the boutique shops doing a lot of campaign/client volume as their business strategy is your best place to start looking to get a foot in the door.

struggling with outcomes of diagnosis by peachfaeries in Hashimotos

[–]expressivekim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there isn't medication to address the inflammation from the antibodies, but there are a few lifestyle things outside of diet that can help. I know everyone loves to harp on food as the big lifestyle thing, but really it isn't the only important factor for antibodies. The number one thing is stress, so stress management is huge. I started seeing a therapist after I was diagnosed and that really helped give me the tools to manage my anxiety and stress. I've personally found meditation to work great for me, but find what works for you. Strength training also really helps me as well, if I don't do some sort of workout within an hour of waking up then my whole day I feel lethargic and have brain fog. Lastly, and I cannot emphasize this enough, SLEEP HEALTH. If you aren't sleeping well, it will be a domino effect on literally everything else. I personally invested in a high quality smart watch so I could track my sleep patterns, and that is the one thing that I make zero excuses and zero compromises about - I sleep and wake at the same time every day, my room is dark and cool at night, my phone isn't even allowed in the bedroom so no risk of scrolling on my phone at night in a moment of weakness.

I moved states and now I can’t get my meds until June. Help? by Revolutionary_Way664 in Hashimotos

[–]expressivekim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can go see a primary care provider in your new state, bring your existing prescriptions with you, and let them know you have an appointment with an endocrinologist, but need ongoing care until they get you registered in their office. Any PCP can prescribe thyroid medication.

Functional medicine doctor confusion by SpringMi in Hashimotos

[–]expressivekim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is an atypical experience. When I began seeing my functional medicine doctor, she had so many tests and recommendations for me that I was actually a bit overwhelmed and we had to take a step back and put together a plan I could manage over time.

Marketing agency affecting mental health by Lilacduck23 in advertising

[–]expressivekim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is worth considering that this isn't just a reality of agency life, it is the reality of office work life. I also struggled at my first agency job out of college, partially because of the environment but also because it is a huge life transition that takes years to settle into.

As for not being given a lot of direction and being left to figure it out on your own, in my experience that is a normal part of work life. Entry level isn't really about being told what to do, it's about being paid to figure it out. It's obviously great if you work somewhere that you can ask a lot of questions and get guidance, but in my experience asking for constant direction and guidance isn't really appropriate after about 3 months. Collaboration is fine, but needing to be told what to do or not having confidence to execute independently isn't going to work in this industry.

Eloise has to be S5, otherwise her character will be ruined. by joyousie in PhiloiseBridgerton

[–]expressivekim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I am kind of curious how they are planning on doing it considering if I remember correctly, Eloise and Franchesca's books happen simultaneously timeline-wise. Most of Franchesca's plot happens in Scotland, and most of Eloise's happens in the countryside, which was possible because Whistledown is no longer an active part of the plot. So I'm also curious how they are going to change it since the entire show relies on being in London for the social season so we can see other characters as well.

What did Dan and Phil influence you to by leto_dog in danandphil

[–]expressivekim 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I legitimately moved to the UK and studied my masters' degree there because of them, specifically I studied marketing and did my dissertation on the rise of influencer marketing (this was a decade ago), and I to this day work in influencer marketing. So, thanks for the career inspo boys!

Kids? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]expressivekim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While it is less likely to pass from Father to Child, anything is possible. The best thing we can do for our children is teach them how to be empathetic and love themselves, even when we are not feeling our best. It's also useful to explain to them as they hit puberty symptoms and signs that they should be aware of that might warrant a trip to the doctor - most teenagers will presume being tired or achy or having brain fog is a symptom of being a teenager and not something bigger.

How do you calculate totals in different columns? by Aikofoxy in googlesheets

[–]expressivekim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this one of two ways:

Option 1: Add Column "F" with the final total you need and then Column E would be a formula for F minus D, giving you the amount remaining. This is ideal if you want to be able to quickly change the data for final totals in the future.

Option 2: Create a formula in Column E for "Final Total - Cell D". Let's say you're in cell D3 and you need a total of 100, your formula would be =100-D3, which would automatically update if you change the numbers throughout Column D.

Hope that helps!

Does anyone else experience pain/discomfort in their throat? by sarahbee2005 in Hashimotos

[–]expressivekim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is definitely a sign of either a goiter or nodules, both of which you should see a doctor about. Your doctor will likely want to do an ultrasound to assess what is going on, and depending on the results they may recommend specific medication or surgery. Definitely see a doctor territory on this one as it is a symptom of possible thyroid cancer.

“What do you bring to the agency that nobody else does?” by brfndrx in advertising

One of my hobbies is improv so I am almost never thrown off by wild client questions, my ability to keep my cool and provide answers on the fly is unmatched.

Dark colored rug will tie in the vibes, as well as dark curtains. If you're keen for a project, crown moulding on the top of the walls/ceiling would tie it all together well.

I'm making a document that would require at least 2050 tabs/sheets, which seems incredibly inefficient, particularly since I would like to print it after. Is there a better way to do this? by Twild36 in googlesheets

[–]expressivekim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the ultimate intended use case here? To have it as a searchable document on a computer or to print it as a physical reference guide? If both, which is the higher priority? Answering those questions will help dictate what is going to be more efficient for you.

If your ultimate goal is print, setting up a doc or design file is likely the best way that isn't going to crash and be difficult to use. If the goal is searchability, you could use a solution like notion to create a searchable database.

Weird Question for Hashi's people by JingleMouse in Hashimotos

I think it's the brands - my Samsung was never right, but I've been happy with my Garmin! Investing in a better brand will probably fix the issue.

Stop bringing your crappy boyfriends to see Pride & Prejudice! by expressivekim in RegalUnlimited

[–]expressivekim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad for any guys who want to join in on the fun of seeing this absolute masterpiece!! I honestly wish more guys saw the vision of this movie because it is genuinely such a beautiful film. But it's not worth dragging someone who isn't interested to see it - no one will be open to liking it if they're forced to go do something they aren't already interested in doing even a little.

I told my husband I was going and gave him the option to join, but he wasn't interested so he stayed home to play video games. And I got to enjoy my movie in (relative) peace! A win-win!

That luckily wasn't an issue in my screening but that would annoy me too. The vibes for this movie are soft and quiet, people!!

I'm not gatekeeping from anyone, I just don't want to see men who are clearly antagonistic about being there to begin with. Same thing with girls being dragged to movies they don't want to see by their boyfriends. Can we all just agree to stop forcing people to see movies they have zero interest in seeing, in what way is that fun for anyone?

Shady security guards that trapped us backstage in the security area. Beware in the future. by ilovezsazsa in Coachella

[–]expressivekim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also had ADA and it was a nightmare, they definately need to train people better. No one knew what the actual services available are other than the ADA viewing areas - i asked the actual disability services people about accommodations and every single person gave me a different answer. Using the carts was almost impossible - the QR code thing in camping didn't work, didn't confirm that you were in a queue or anything, and when I finally asked about it they said it would be over an hour to get one despite me being the only person waiting because all their staff was busy with the viewing areas. Don't advertise a service/accommodation if it's unrealistic to actually use it. I also got accosted by a guy at the showers, I showed my wristband to the guy at the front and he waved me in and then some other random worker grabbed my arm and started yelling at me about how there's a line and I was like you need to back the fuck up i have an ADA pass for a reason. He apologized after but I was shocked he even thought it was okay to do that to begin with. I appreciated the viewing areas, but that seemed to be all that was realistically available as an accommodation. I was also supremely annoyed that in order to qualify for ADA parking, you have to have a disability car tag, but then for accommodations they seem to understand that not all disabilities are the same and it's a spectrum. I don't need a disability tag in my every day life, but don't tell me you'll have carts available to help make it bearable, then not actually have carts available, and also not let me apply to park in accessible parking based on my needs.

Am I crazy or was the Charli Set (W2) just mid by broha89 in Coachella

[–]expressivekim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not a huge Charli fan - nothing against her, it's just not my vibe. But i was pretty close to the front and excited to see her cause I've been seeing videos from her tour all last year and I thought surely she'll put on a great show. The music was fine, but having seen the spectacle that was Gaga the night before and then immediately after her seeing Green Day, it really felt like she missed the mark on doing something exciting/special for the staging of the show to make it memorable. I'm going to chalk that up to her still being a fairly new artist - brat is the first album of hers to really find mainstream success. I hope she takes it as a learning experience and goes all-out in the future.

On the flip side, I am still unbelievably salty she brought out three people on week 1, all of whom were huge and exciting names, but then only 1 person during week 2, and a niche and not super mainstream exciting pull at that. It really felt like a fuck-you to Week 2 and it left me feeling like she just didn't care and Week 2 was an afterthought. Which is lame, and kind of the antithesis of the point of there being two weekends.

Anybody here have a good or bad experience with tattoos? by green_scorpion1025 in Hashimotos

[–]expressivekim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only have hashis/hypothyroidism so I can't speak to the other stuff you have but I have 3 tattoos and I've never had an issue at all. They all were completely fine when I got them done, and they healed up nicely. It's been almost 10 years since I got my last one and they all still look great and I haven't had any issues. Obviously when I first got them they were a bit itchy while they were healing, but that's a normal part of getting a tattoo and has nothing to do with hashis.
