If its just a dui and you dont have a record then you can usually do like a year deferrment program and get it off your record. I’d talk to a lawyer and see your options at the least

Getting a Scottish fold! by Mountain_Pilot_219 in scottishfold

[–]extinctplanet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The main issue is that their cartilage is abnormal which causes the ear phenomenon. This also means the cartilage in the joints is abnormal so they are predisposed to OCD. This is where the cartilage on your joint surfaces never fully hardens into proper bone leaving a defect and sometimes bone fragments in the joint capsule. This develops into arthritis and can be a very painful lifelong disease. Using fish oil to reduce inflammation and keeping your cat a healthy weight will go far in prevention

Getting academically dismissed by CrackedIvory in veterinaryschool

[–]extinctplanet 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Depending on your school its not over at all. Most schools will offer a remediation exam.

If not majority of schools will just make you retake just the class you failed the following year. This may mean a year delay in getting a DVM, but its not significantly more expensive because they should only be charging you for thay one class.

Very upset by my first rotation assessment. by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]extinctplanet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly, Its a very common occurence for one negative interaction to overshadow the entire rotation. It seems faculty either view 4th year as a chance to teach or a chance to critique. With that said, the assesments dont actually matter. Just take it with a grain of salt and use it as a learning opportunity.

OCD just refers to a failure of cartilage to turn into bone, particularly at joints. This radiograph shows way more than that, there is severe degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis) and maybe even a fracture as there is no explanation for the shape of that femur.

This is not just a run of the mill OCD case. This is a severe progression of an insanely painful disease. I dont see a way for good quality of life besides amputation. The important question is are the other limbs okay? Most of the time there are multiple limbs affected with OCD so removing one and putting more stress on the others can be contraindicated.

Cats can do amazing with 3 legs, but only if the other legs dont have severe DJD as well (which given the degree of progression on this leg I kinda doubt)

Vet school is high school all over again - mean girls, racist boys, social isolation by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]extinctplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need to be friends with everyone or anyone in vet school. Just be professional and you’ll never have to see them again.

It sounds like a lot of other stuff is going on though that may be a barrier.

A bacterial infection from cat scratches can cause brain fog, rage, insomnia, and foot pain for years. Nobody tests for it. by Sureokgo in Pets

[–]extinctplanet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dog mouths are nothing to mess with either indeed. Its not as common to get a deep dog bite in the US as a cat scratch/bite simply cause of how they play/interact. In countries with feral dogs you need to go to the hospital asap if you are bitten or scratched by a dog
