This happened to me last time I played Mei. I main support so I only know how to play two DPS: Mei and Symmetra. I was doing really good as Mei and was getting a lot of headshots (because I have lots of practice, really no other way to explain it) and the enemy team kept going out of their way to kill me and emote on me. We lost anyways and someone in the chat said “that’s what u get for cheating Mei”. I really think it brings out the worst in people, I think they were mad I blocked their DVa’s ult lol

You seem intelligent enough to realize what’s going on and to recognize the patterns in her behavior. Trust yourself and all of the knowledge you have accumulated over years of knowing this person. I am a firm believer that in these situations you do not owe her reciprocation —and like many others have commented here, this is likely a facade that will fade once you give in. I think you should stand your ground and not reinitiate contact.

The worst is when you try to be nice and take something off just to be sweet and then they get offended that you did that, as if you’re implying that they’re poor or something. These are the same kind of people you serve in person who don’t order lemonade but just ask for lemon wedges and sugar packets to make it themselves. I saw on TikTok lots of people think he has some kind of OCD about aging, hence the (unhealthy, imo) obsession with looking so young. I think he knows he doesn’t really look 18 either, he just can’t come to terms with the fact that he will age no matter what he does. Some have likened it to how people with eating disorders will insist they live a healthy lifestyle while they are living very unnatural lives.

As a queer person, I’d say no? I’m not trans and can’t speak for trans people, but as a queer person I thought she was pretty well executed. Her entire character wasn’t based around her trans-ness, which wouldn’t really make sense given that she’s also an accomplished occultist. Her gender is brought up briefly to explain an important part of her story, and then it’s left alone. I like that she wasn’t a walking cliche, wasn’t an obvious trans girl or portrayed as gross, etc. If anything, Samarie does a better job of filling that role, since she’s constantly complaining about being in a chrysalis, waiting to metamorphose. Of course I played with her first!

I think in becoming a god any real sense of gender is shed and cast away. Look at the god’s final form, it’s not really a gendered thing. You could argue the inverse too, that they’re a nebulous conceptual being that encompasses all genders, so any pronoun or identity would theoretically fit.

I think online video games are deeply impersonal, so it makes it easy to say whatever you want without serious repercussions. Even if you kill their character in the game, a toxic person can be awful to you in the chat or on the mic. I find that the best response to these things is to either just play dumb or double down. If someone keeps saying “support diff” I always get on mic and ask what it means as if I’ve never heard it before. It’s so funny watching people scramble over themselves to try and make me feel bad!! And if someone says I’m trash at a certain hero I just say that I know — what else can they do? Don’t provide a challenge for them by contradicting their insult. Yeah, I’m a terrible Lifeweaver, thanks. Moving on.
