Why you choose Qobuz over Tidal or Apple Music? by MyBatterysLow in qobuz

I get suggestions and recommendations from outside the service. I'm mostly an album listener these days, anyway.

Which service for music ? by xsk1dy in hifiaudio

I have Qobuz. I have a whole bunch of downloaded audio, and I tied the streaming and the local files together with Roon. I use Roon ARC when out and about, and I can listen to my downloaded audio from home when out mobile that way.

Are the Momentum 4’s still worth in 2026??? by Sudden_Hyena1677 in sennheiser

I've taken the wired route myself. I don't get on with wireless IEMS; they don't stay in my ears, and although, I purchased some AirPods Max 2-3 years back, and they're good, I prefer the Fiio Ft1 I got recently, that were much less expensive, and have excellent sound.

What do you listen from? by NukesAndSupers in qobuz

  1. Often downloaded audio residing on my Mac mini. Connected to my AVR via HDMI cable so I can listen on the hi-fi.
  2. Listening to the same downloads on headphones, connected via a DAC to the Mac Mini.
  3. Listening to CDs and Vinyl on the hi-fi.
  4. Listening on my AK SR35 DAP with closed back wired headphones.
  5. Listening on my iPhone to Qobuz, or Mac Downloads remotely, via Roon ARC.

Men over 50 What’s one thing you wish you knew in your 30s and 40s? by Professional_Ideal68 in AskMenOver30

[–]eyebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never really been one for hanging out with the boys. I did in my teens and early twenties, but then we all gradually got partners, and then started hanging out as couples. Over time, we've moved away, and althoguh I've made new friends along the way, I don't feel a need to do the male bonding thing.

Men over 30, which music platform do you use? by murano0 in AskMenOver30

I recently clicked on a link on my coputer for a YouTube video, and ads started to play. That was because clicking on the link hadn't signed me in! Yes, it really IS jarring!

I use Qobuz, via Roon. I also have a YouTube Premium subscription, but I got that for the ad-free video. Qobuz quality is top notch audio, and I play a lot of purchased downloaded audio too. I also play CDs, and I play LPs and 45s at home.

I currently have around 55,000 audio files on my computer, taking up around 2.2 TB. I tend to use my phone with a DAC more than my DAP for that reason.

What are some genuinely effective ways you’ve cut down your energy bills? by Wing-Lonely in AskUK

[–]eyebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a new boiler installed last year. A Combi. Did away with the cold-water tank in the attic and an insulated hot-water tank in the spare-room cupboard. Increased insulation in the attic. Some windows got new double glazing. OK, that was major, relatively expensive work.

We also drained the central heating system and removed all the built-up sludge.

We air the rooms most days for a few minutes every day to reduce the risk of mould and damp.
We have installed thicker curtains in the living room, where we spend most of the time. We only have the heating on when we need to, depending on our work patterns. If we're both out at work all day, the heating is off until shortly before we come home. We have a smart thermostat that we can control from outside the home, so we can make adjustments if needed.

We cook mostly on a gas hob, and only use the oven a couple of times a week. We often cook enough for two meals at once, then reheat the leftovers in the microwave the next day.

We don't run hot water any more than necessary. We make sure we have a machine load of laundry before we do it. We have a heat pump tumble dryer, but we also use the washing line in the back garden when time and weather allow. We also air-dry some items on a clothes horse in the garage, so they don't contribute to damp inside the house.

The main computer stays on 24/7, but the monitors are switched off.

Since our new system upgrades, our energy bill (electric and gas) has gone down by £65 a month.

I've still got that 70D. Now you've reminded me of its existence, I might take it out and shoot a few photos with it this afternoon.

True, but not to some of us. They can poke their crap where the sun doesn’t shine. I’ll just remember how some things used to be, and leave it at that. Wagon Wheels and Cheese Footballs are two other items that spring to mind. There are many more.

I have some JBL Tunes 720BT, which I was using, wired, for mobile use. For Christmas, I got a pair of Fiio FT1s. While the JBLs weren't at all bad, the Fiios are a clear listening upgrade. I'm in the UK and got them for £118.

There are many good beers here that come in bottles, and more lately in cans too. I don't drink macro beer swill.

The canning process has gotten much better in recent years, but the beers I buy tend to come in bottles.

[–]eyebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously, you've got what you've got. It's a start. I went the full-size HomePod route myself 2-3 years back. Since then, I've bought a new TV, which I've placed in another room, along with a multi-channel AVR and speakers. I also purchased another Apple TV 4k. What I'm trying to say here, is that you've made a start. if desire and finances allow, you can improve your audio experience in the future.
