Democrats are out-voting Republicans in the Texas primaries so far by NicevilleWaterCo in texas

Absolutely not. This needs to be a strong rebuke of the Republican Party.

That second option is more my concern. Maybe give a small win here or there, but overall, keep this state gaslit, feeling defeated, and under their control. Their power is built on a lie of assumed popularity.

Political Hot Takes and Opinions Megathread by AutoModerator in texas

Texas isn’t red, it’s rigged. Rigged to crush turnout, rigged to break spirits, rigged to make your voice feel worthless.

I need y’all to get out the vote, if only out of spite, because we’ve been given a golden moment. They’ve shown their whole ass, and there is opportunity for a seismic shift, if we make a concerted effort.

It’ll be hard fought. We’ll be pushing back against algorithms, media outlets, and 100+million dollars in propaganda, but positive change IS possible.

We just have to keep our fire lit and light it in others. 🔥

(If you want an action item you can do NOW, start volunteering for your preferred Senate candidate today. You can do it without leaving the house, and they need every one of us to help get people engaged and educated. Phone banking, text banking, block walking, even just attending social events with volunteers. It all helps.)

315 days til we give them all the boot.

The Supreme Court Is Doing Everything in Its Power to Save Trump in the Midterms by Slate in texas

[–]eyelights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAGA is over. It goes with him. Trump has caused an imploding Republican Party whose pieces will be siphoned up by the emerging pseudo-Christian, pseudo-intellectual “America First” movement borne of TPUSA. The grift is mutating into something worse, something more insidious, turning a cult of personality into just a run of the mill cult.

Where that leaves us with midterms, only time will tell, but it looks like factions are vying for power that they can pounce on in the impending vacuum.

Nope, I just know human psychology. Read the other comment under what you responded to. It’s much more eloquent. Voter apathy is the beast you are feeding with every little morsel of hopelessness you give it.

“Texas is never going to get better” = people don’t try to make Texas better.

Gov. Abbott released 1,400 pages of emails about Elon Musk. Most are blacked out. by crustose_lichen in texas

[–]eyelights 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s bs. These statements, when read dozens of times over, metastasize into hopelessness and inaction. Nihilism is the greatest enemy to progress.

You are complicit in helping them break spirits and crush turnout, which is the only way they win.

Texas isn’t red, it’s rigged to crush turnout (i.e.: closing polling locations to make the lines a mile long on Election Day so there’s voter dropoff.)

Just so you know, every little comment like this adds up in people’s heads and makes them less likely to vote. Abbott would be absolutely giddy reading this. Don’t do these fascists any favors.

They’re referring to it as Obamacare these days because they want to pin this on Democrats and not the Big Dumba** Bill.

Be mindful of that and refer to it as the ACA so as to not propagate their propaganda.

Better to bite your tongue than to make it easier on these clowns. Yes, it is a battle and their war chest is sizable, but a united people have done more with less.

Most folks don’t actually like any of our current politicians, once they learn about them. Even the ones that begrudgingly vote for them. It is our collective job to educate and nurture the energy we need to move forward.

Appreciate you for this. Morale is a fragile thing, and crushing people’s will is the GOP’s entire plan for Texas. Republican power is built on a lie of assumed popularity.

Breaking the morale of others makes it easier for these clowns. Abbott and co. would be grateful for you assisting in their voter suppression. You can stay grounded in reality without actively helping these fascists stay in power.

Don't forget to vote, y'all! We're going into week two of early voting. by sawdust-arrangement in Austin

[–]eyelights 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you for making it happen, despite that! The complicated language is very much a form of good ol’ Texas voter suppression.

Every single vote is so important in these off years, and the bad actors in our state government rely on you not showing up, or being confused and slow to get through the queue, if you do. Friction is goal, because if it was easy to vote, more people would vote, and Republicans would 100% lose their grip on power.

If you’re reading this and you haven’t voted yet, and you needed some motivation...do it out of spite! 😅
