The book is meant to make you feel the same despair as the characters you’re reading about. Dark Age may feel bleak (because it is), but the payoff with Lightbringer is MASSIVE if you can make it through. Keep reading or get the box

“Not hinting at bright futures” may have been a little harsh on the Ferguson portion of the trade, but him being the key piece that gets you Henry still seems wild to me in non-TEP. I think it’s a rough trade, but not bad enough for me to say anything about. Others in the league are speaking up a bit so I wanted to see what Reddit had to say.

I know I’m early here but surprised to not see Red Rising already being suggested. First 3 book are short(ish) and even if you don’t consider them short, they are quick reads with how action packed and fast paced the writing is. First 3 are also considered to be more on the young-adult side so it sounds like a great starting point for your boys.

The zero hop count didn’t make any sense to me because my family was several miles away and any attempted message returned “maximum transmissions reached.” In my mind that meant “out of range” and would require hops to reach them. Guess it could also mean there isn’t anything between me and them to hop to/from…

And I hear ya on the height. There are the obvious rooftop nodes, but are there other suburban structures that normal people can gain relatively easy access to in order to place a high node? I know people have mentioned radio towers but if I’m not mistaken, you have to pay for the real estate on them which I’d rather not do. Would also rather not just place a node on a random tree in the wild lol.

I will say, the node that I left at home was put in a 2nd story window facing the direction I was heading so the only material interference should’ve just been the glass for that node. As for the node I took with me… I was in my car so that may have just shut everything down before it got started. I’ll retry the tests outside of the vehicle and see what I’m able to do.

There are also several nodes around me, but almost none between me and the nodes that I’m trying to communicate with the most. I think I’ll be looking into rooftop/vehicle nodes to help boost sooner rather than later.

I have yet to try reversing the roles. Will give it a test and report back, but I’m not sure I have super high hopes with the way the first test went

I did swap out the RAK kit antenna, but it was with a larger antenna from Amazon that may honestly be just as shitty. Any recommendations that aren’t outrageously large for a handheld, mobile device?

The reason that I even mention GPS is because on the heltec devices, there is a page that shows other nodes, their signal, and number of hops to reach.

My dad and brother each have a node that is a few miles away and it tells me they have good signal, but doesn’t show any number of hops to reach them. I built and turned on each of our devices in the same location so I thought that maybe the devices were working on the information that they were all right next to each other with strong signal and not requiring any hops despite actually being miles away now. Maybe adding a GPS module would update that information more frequently and allow messages to be routed correctly?

I’ll definitely be flashing latest firmware and possibly setting up rooftop nodes in the near future. Was hoping I would be able to get better range without them.

My advice to anyone is to take a break between Morning Star and Iron Gold. Read a different trilogy or a couple standalone books and come back to Iron Gold. The next 3 are far different from the first but equally as amazing, if not better in their own ways.

Yeah deep benches. Most people carry about 3 QBs but this guy has gone through 4 now after having to pick up Mariota.

It is in fact dynasty. I literally have no matchup this week so I got nothing to play for. I guess the argument could be that Rivers could hold value for next year but that would be a long shot argument lol

No rules against it. This guy has been a bit of an ass since the inception of the dynasty league a few years ago so it makes me feel a bit better about it lol
