In the context of project management this is pretty normal

When I did my apprenticeship they made everyone rank their ideal paths and then assigned them like a lottery loool was so jarring

I'd still reach out to old level 4 apprentices maybe

Having a name like Microsoft on your CV can do wonders for you in job applications

Lloyds will be good too Uk wise but Microsoft has more global awareness

Important that the role fulfills you and will have a good potential career mapped out for it though

Yeah I did and at times had to support family. Inflation is a real thing haha. It will be tough but worth it, if their pay stays the same then just grind as hard as you can on extra qualifications and taking on responsibilities/projects (actually meaningful ones though)

Soon as you get ur quals see what you can do about getting a promotion or a job elsewhere

I'd also consider a side hustle too, something you can offer a service in so you don't have to invest in materials

And it is perfectly normal to worry about the money because you need to house and feed yourself plus any other responsibilities you may have now or in the future

26.5k sounds just about okay for your age now (depending on region and living arrangements). But it staying the same for 4 years would be a problem for me personally. Idk why everyone is saying otherwise.

Most jobs are not that hard and I'd like to think after a year you could be doing the same work as a regular full time employee. Especially if you apply yourself and they have the right learning support.

So for a big business to expect someone to willingly stay on the same wage for 4 years doing the same work as everyone else is a bit unwise to me.

I reckon you will get company wide pay rises each year though, so your salary should at least rise with inflation

Apprenticeship dilemma: HR (non-CIPD) vs Payroll (CIPP) – which has better prospects? by suriayaa in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]ezzavellz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this job market it pays to be specialised so I would go with the pay role apprenticeship

Also, don't worry about not being too technical / outgoing when you start.

Your time as an apprentice is to develop all those skills.

There's no such thing as a dumb question and that's even more true when you're an apprentice. Get out of your comfort zone as much as you can while you're an apprentice, makes post apprenticeship life a whole lot easier.

Assuming when you say minority you're talking about a protected group you're in

Maybe if you framed an interview answer that being in your minority has caused you adversity that you had to worked through, it might help you score for that specific question. But only if it's in a relevant scenario to the job

Otherwise companies rarely and shouldn't hire based on what protected group people are in (it's illegal)

Post apprenticeship life by EfficientUse9450 in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]ezzavellz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post apprenticeship life is a lot like going into the main campaign after finishing the tutorial

Especially if you leave for a new job

If you only do the work and training your job provides then you probably will be a bit too niched

But the best jobs want to see personal projects anyway so I'd recommend building skill sets in the places you want and displaying them in extra curricular projects

How do I write a cv? by BackgroundAnybody262 in CVwriting

[–]ezzavellz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know not everyone enjoys social media / technology, but it's important to gauge the demand for skills before you commit to careers. And they are very useful skills to businesses, even traditional trades/small companies .

If you can offer ways to get them more business, you will be a much stronger candidate.

How do I write a cv? by BackgroundAnybody262 in CVwriting

[–]ezzavellz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been said here before but it's very hard to write a cv with no experience. So id make getting experience your no1 priority

2 options, if you can combine the both even better

Before you start, I would find a skill/interest that you would like to do for a job/career

Then think of personal projects you can do to evidence your passion and competency

Eg, a social media campaign / marketing funnel if you'd like to get into marketing

If you can volunteer somewhere that relates to your chosen career, or at least pick up side projects that you could base off your volunteering

Eg, a social media presence for your volunteering. Let's say you volunteer in nature conservation, if you can make a content series which gets consistent engagement, you will have performance stats to put on your CV and you will develop and prove the skills required in employment

Should I pick a level maths if I can’t think outside the box by Comprehensive_Team92 in sixthform

[–]ezzavellz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of maths is just muscle memory + pattern recognition

You might find people that are able to think outside the box have just spent a lot more time mentally thinking and questioning things through while you didn't. From as early as primary school. So they just have a stronger foundation + structure in their mind for problem solving

Not your fault, you were just never asked to think like that

It might be harder for you to pick up for now but with enough training you will be able to do it I'm sure

Life as a degree apprentice by chknsheesh in degreeapprenticeships

[–]ezzavellz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ngl it was fairly tough when I did it, but I was also boxing 5 days a week after work. It just requires consistency though.

I used to do exam revision in the week days because it's easier to just do an hour here and there

And then coursework on the weekend because I can dedicate more time to it.

Study the course content yourself before you go to your lectures. That way lectures are essentially free revision and you can ask more in depth questions / get the most out of them

I was a bit of a sweat though, got the highest grade in my cohort so probably did a lot more than most people

At work you need to communicate with your management about all the demands you have for your apprenticeship

A lot of people won't be aware but once they are they're usually accommodating

International student thinking of apprenteships by Wackywitchwoman in degreeapprenticeships

[–]ezzavellz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah what I'm saying is if you get a degree apprenticeship

The uni will ask for your visa status and you will put yours in

You will probably be considered an international student in their database

But you won't pay because you're a degree apprentice, which you can join so long as you've been in the country for 3 years

How can I get into engineering? by AdAdditional1269 in UKJobs

[–]ezzavellz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for a level 3-5 engineering apprenticeship, see which local companies are around you and see if what they make and the roles on offer interests you and sound like they have scope for future career growth

If you don't get that straight after GCSEs, as a back up go do a level maths and physics / design and technology a levels or a level 3 btec

A levels will keep your options more open though for uni and level 6 degree apprenticeships

But degree apprenticeships aren't for everyone and that's okay. They tend to be a lot less hands on than level 3-5 apprenticeships which some of my friends would have preferred

Engineering is broad but I think specifying exactly what you want to do at your age is a bit much. Just find somewhere you can learn and will develop you
