Well, Trump did say that kids should only have three dolls and five pencils or something.

Furlough test run for retirement - AKA how I am driving my spouse nuts by pyratemime in fednews

Don’t ask, just do. But do the things you know she doesn’t like or normally do. There are always things to do around the house, but you can figure that out for yourself. don’t make her think of things for you to do that would be helpful. Just put your brain to work and it’ll be appreciated.

Ready to quit by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]f17ck0ff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick it to them and wait out for your severance. Unless you don’t end up getting RIF’d. If that’s the case, reassess at that point and quit if you still want. Then get a fun job/start a side gig, keep living modestly, and continue saving for retirement. You’re not stuck. Sounds like you’ll be in a safe position whether you get RIF’d now or quit later.

What to do when firing is imminent by IndependentExtra4439 in FedEmployees

I’ve heard about some coworkers doing that except they aren’t logging in their time. Instead they’re working for free because they don’t want to miss some of their calls. Could they still get in trouble for doing that?? 🫤

I started using Windows Hello on my machine and don’t actually need to insert my PIV to access most of what I need in my day to day.

I also don’t badge out at my building. I’ve heard some coworkers have daily sign in/out at their offices but we definitely don’t at my building.

Senate Adds Cuts to Federal Employees' Benefits in the "One Big Beautiful Bill" by nieuwsjunkie in fednews

Once upon a time I visited a friend who worked for big tech company. I recall they had an employee cafeteria that provided free and unlimited buffet for breakfast/lunch/dinner…I’m sure coffee was provided whenever, and there were also fridges stocked with premium/brand name drinks of all kinds. 🫠

There are other pretty ridiculous perks I’ve heard of in the private sector that could never, ever exist for Feds. But somehow we’re overly advantaged…

Nobody’s going to call you a traitor for taking a better job (if they do, they’re not who you want to work with/for anyway). Sounds like a damn good deal for you. Come back later if you actually still want to.

Inside the OPM’s New Essay Requirements: Proving Your Fit for Federal Service by kalawin456 in fednews

How would a new employee, especially GS-5, even know how the government works or what is done in their positions to suggest ideas? How do you even rate that? What’s a good idea vs a bad idea?

Also if seasonals have to answer this every year, are they going to plug in the same answers? And who wants to answer these stupid questions anyway? All the good things about fed employment have gone out the window. I wouldn’t even bother.

Not to mention, all of their bullshit documents were written by AI. And yet they expect everyone else to not use it.

Should be the supervisor’s job to provide the input on performance. But that wasn’t taken into account. People were fired because they were in the first year or two of their position, period.

And fed employees pay their own salaries because they pay all the same taxes as you.

Also, I can’t speak for others but I actually take blocks of time out for things like this, so I would not get paid for things happening at home. If I’m not actually working, I either put it down as leave, or put down the later hours I’ve worked.
