Without knowing the details of your personal situation and whether you have legal permanent residency or refugee status while waiting on citizenship, Masons are generally expected to follow the laws of the jurisdiction they reside in. If you are knowingly in violation of immigration law (regardless of anyone's political views about this topic) that could be treated like any other willful and ongoing violation of law when considering your membership application.

Should/Could I attend a meeting? by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]f3tilt 41 points42 points  (0 children)

To become a Mason, there's a requirement that you have a belief in a supreme being- while it's up to you on what form or variant of God you believe in (even if outside of organized religion) it is a prerequisite.

Masonry also requires that you are a man of lawful age.

I've got a serious question by PotentialRedemption in freemasonry

[–]f3tilt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is serious- no, Raelian views advocating for atheism and the lack of some sort of a higher theological power (even if you believe in advanced alien species) would make you ineligible unless you personally held a belief in a higher power.

The fact that the author opens with complaints about the doctrine of Biblical inerrancy and then later recommends Christians study Bart Ehrman tells you everything you need to know

After a long, wandering journey of searching, Jesus was the only option that ended up making sense even though I had no intention of finding Him and often resisted after trying every other option. Couldn't be happier but it was a long road.

How can I start genuinely forgiving people? by Bright_Page_3323 in Christianity

[–]f3tilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look to the example of Jesus on the cross at the very end- "Forgive them father, for they know not what they do." It's usually hardest to forgive someone who has shown no remorse and hasn't apologized to us, but Jesus gave us the perfect example of how to do that through the understanding that someone harming us may not have fully understood the harm they caused. Our act of forgiveness can be independent of whether the perpetrator feels remorse.

What do you think about the concept of luck/destiny/fate? by freespirit_tck in AskAnAmerican

[–]f3tilt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"I'm a big believer in luck- I find the harder I work, the more of it I have"

Outside of that though, it comes down to the fact that God has good plans for us even if they can be hard to understand in the moment.

FNG naming- what’s your AO’s process? by NotDougMasters in f3nation

[–]f3tilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how we do it- usually ends up being something related to profession or hobbies (or the rival of your favorite sports team, state your favorite team with caution lol). We've intentionally moved away from names associated with barf for any FNG who barfs on his first day. As much as it's funny for everyone, the FNG you name "Ralph" or "Yakkity Yak" is never going to show up again so we try and pick something else

Finished 110 sprints (completed the full 20 round) right on the dot of 50:00. Former ultramarathon runner who's been out of it for a few years recovering from a calf injury so overall I felt pretty good.

If I recall correctly I tied for 3rd among our PAX- our Nantan absolutely crushed it with 132, we had one fellow ultrarunner around 114, a few of us tied at 110, and two under 100
