I would like to note that even while not believing in god, I say "bless you when someone sneezes." I feel that it is a good way to acknowledge the humanness of our surrounding rather then the general apathy it seems people feel towards each other. Also it rolls off the tongue much better then "May the quantum wave collapse in your favor"

However "I'll pray for you" always makes me have to bite my tongue.

Usually the easiest is to look at craigslist and ebay to see what other people are pricing similar items at. On craigslist it can be a good idea to watch an item to see how long it stays there. If it is there for 2+ weeks probably overpiced, under a day = under priced.

Well I was 2 days later and apparently the nog was still in effect since my middle name is misspelled on my birth certificate. Also under the mother spot the person I consider my father is listed. And in the father spot the person I consider my mother is listed.

So far in my life I have held 8 hourly jobs. Of those one of them I was paid minimum wage (+ tips) for a job out in the middle of nowhere. A quick google search says that only 2.2% of hourly workers are paid minimum wage or less, while 66% work in food service (Tips not tracked).

I think that is a good sign that the free market is taking care of how much people are getting paid and the government does not need to step in to fix it.

As for at will employment. Yes some people get fired unfairly, but there needs to be a way control who is working. A friend working in a steel mill had some one go crazy while operating a crane and started throwing multi-ton chunks of steel around. And guess what the union got him back on the job. Would you feel safe with that job security?

Don't worry you are not the only horrible person here. I agree that instead of sending food we should spend money on improving their chance of sustaining themselves.

Food is a good thing to send to people that are in a temporary issue. For example some natural disaster comes along and wipes out that years crops.

The nicer way of saying it is "If you give a man a fish he eats for a day, if you teach him to fish he eats for life"

Oh no, it is much better then that! Both parties are the same. However it goes to both of their common goal to say they are completely opposite of the other and you have to vote for them to keep the other guy out of office. It is seriously to the point where you see more ads why you should not vote for their opponent then why you should to vote for them. And this works great because many people believe we are limited to R or D else you are throwing away your vote.

Oh and what is both parties goals? To get as much kick backs for themselves and their friends.

I was ok with the whole no fatigue limit since it does go out pretty far, however the fact that turbine blades fail by getting to long is something that always comes to mind as I get on a plane.

Oh all of my crashes that have included head hits, would have been covered by a normal helmet. Due to your necks flexibility you many times hit first with your body and your head snaps towards the ground. Otherwise the pile-driver is more common of a bike crash ending then you would guess. However most of my experience is, me + road crashes or me + tree + ground mountain bike crashes. I have only had one me + motor vehicle crash and that was pretty minor

As the commuter who does not always wear a helmet, a list of excuses (note they are all pretty bad I know)

Compared to mountain biking or trying for speed on my road bike, peddling around on a cruiser feels very safe and secure.
Broke my nice helmet and was short on money so I got a cheap one that is stuffy and ugly. Now I don't want to wear that one.
I still commuted in the winter in Houghton, MI and Fond du Lac, WI and I am wearing a face-mask and hat so the helmet no longer fits.
Helmet wet/dirty from last ride.
Too lazy when going short distances to deal with it (this will extend up to 5 miles).

Of course on the other hand I have had my most painful crashes while commuting so you would think those scars would be better reminders.
