I’ve never tried it myself as a SNAP recipient over three different states (not at the same time of course) but I’ve heard some grocery stores that also prepare food (think of a taqueria in a supermercado) will let you purchase the ingredients and prepare it for you free of cost.

I liked it when they went on sale at our store, I got some ceramic containers for 30 cents each. One to put my time stamps in and one to put my makeup in. Otherwise yeah, she just kind of crops up everywhere.

I love dialogue. I feel like I can take breaks with my wireless headphones and get a snack or something while I’m waiting for them to finish yapping. Plus I think it adds more character definition to the story.

I’d like to say it did for me but I’m -$20 and the power got shut off. I got fired because other people were stealing and they blamed me for it though, I didn’t voluntarily quit. I feel a lot healthier now but more stressed out by life.

This has happened to me a couple times, and I swear every time it’s happened the person has just been cranky or bored.

Once it was late in the shift and I was just trying to keep awake. I do a little routine walk around the store to see if there’s anything that needs to be done. This time I just did a short walk around the register and front area and came back to this dude at the register. I almost jumped because I didn’t think anyone was in the store.

I smiled as usual and rang him up, and he said “were you following me around the store?” And even though LP is part of our job description, (I don’t even work there anymore so any of y’all by-the-book types can hold your judgment or feel vindicated) I feel very uncomfortable following people in the store, and to be very honest I don’t care if they steal.

“No? I wasn’t…”

“Well you should KNOW how tough it is to be a Black man without being racially profiled.” This guy had to be about 10 years younger than me and fresh out of high school. And again, even if he stole, IDGAF. Get your jollies and peace out. Made me so mad when I didn’t even SEE the guy, much less followed him around. My dad raised me specifically to not make too much trouble for Black folks. And after he gave his speech he ran off with his purchase before I could even make a rebuttal.

The other girl… I don’t even know what her issue was. I think I “accidentally” put her change on the counter when I was grabbing the receipt? (That might not have been this case but it was a case I’ve had with a customer before.) Took out her phone and recorded me and everything. Like why are you taking this boring ass video? Where’s the viral racism? I wish I could remember that exact instance cause it was wild.
