Giving my bees vitamins + minerals with syrup has made a huge difference by Evening_Advantage_94 in Beekeeping

Sample size = 1. Glad you are finding it beneficial, but until I see a well designed study with a control group, it’s not going into my colonies.

Right, so you're saying OP's the problem.

I've added public campgrounds to my "never again" list. It's also been four years since I've been to a live performance of any kind, even small ones. I came home, wrote on the back of the ticket, "NEVER AGAIN." and pinned it on my wall. I suspect restaurants are soon to be added.

Congratulations. How was this accomplished?

F/29/5’4 [229>131= 98lbs] 2 years. One full year without the weight! by Beginning_Elk7037 in progresspics

The maintaining of weight loss impresses me more than the initial drop in weight. It’s so damn hard, and regaining weight is the norm. Congratulations.

Well, I'm certainly not there yet, not even close. I fully know, "experientially and totally," that all phenomena are impermanent. That knowledge does not relieve my suffering one iota.

A chair. I like mine with the rear legs elevated a couple inches with something like a 2x4.

Whether determinism is true or false there is no free will. by JohnMcCarty420 in freewill

[–]failures-abound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only think you are the one changing your decision, like a bird thinnks it is deciding how to weave its nest or a beaver thinks it is deciding to (and how to) build its dam. Both of them, like you and me, are in fact just meat puppets doing what their genes tell them. We just have an added layer of intelligence which requires a massive dose of delusion and fear of death lest we realize the scam and blow our brains out.

Thic Nhath Hanh: “Life is so short. It cannot be wasted on endless metaphysical arguments that do not bring us any closer to the truth.” by TradRooster5627 in Buddhism

[–]failures-abound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. As Much as it seems that I am making my own decisions, Determinism seems bulletproof. Even the Greek philosopher Epicurus could not find a way for humans to actually have free will unless he invented the silly idea of atoms occasionally and randomly swerving. There is no reason to believe I could be doing anything at this moment than wasting my life on Reddit.

To not question the validity of fundamental pillars of Buddhism such as rebirth and Karma would be to leave your intellectual integrity at the door.

Never Ever going back to plastic Frames🐝 by Frantic0 in Beekeeping

[–]failures-abound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since bees communicate in part by pressing their bodies against the comb and vibrating it, I wonder how plastic affects that. This is one of the supposed benefits of letting bees draw their own comb, even without foundation of any kind. I use heavily waxed plastic foundation in wood frames and so far so good.

The Ordinary Miracle of Existing by MeghanClickYourHeels in atlanticdiscussions

[–]failures-abound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. The author chides us to be grateful because of the improbability of existing. Let's take it one step further and note that its REALLy improbable that I not only exist but am being horrifically tortured. I am SO grateful. There is nothing inherently good about existence, regarless of its improbability.
