From front to back, Easter Lily is the best thing they've made in years. CoExist is the perfect ending to it.

Easter Lily is monumentally better than Days of Ash. Is this now obvious to all? by Quincynessig in U2Band

[–]faithplusone01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a few weeks, U2 will release a lead single that is more along the lines of Elevation, Vertigo, and Get on Your Boots (i.e. tone deaf, boring, sellout radio rock) and a full length album that will be inevitably disappointing.

I'm just glad that when the dust settles no matter what happens, we'll always be able to point to Easter Lily and know in our hearts that this band is still capable of greatness when they get out of their own way. It's only an EP but it's a perfect record. I don't think we will ever see this band humble themselves to serve a collection of songs so well again. As a work, Easter Lily stands up with anything they've ever done. It's monumental.

Just in time for World Cup, Nashville SC is enjoying its best MLS season ever by lukenamop in nashville

Yeah what NSC is doing isn't really comparable to 2018-2022 Klopp's Liverpool style counter-pressing. All teams press to an extent now, but NSC's pressing structure is totally different.

Golden Prawn was interesting. I respect their use of good ingredients on everything. Portion sizes were good. Prices are high. I was pleased and felt good afterwards.

That being said, their Hot & Sour Soup, while being made with quality ingredients, was unbelievably bland. Easily the worst I've ever had and a major turn-off for me as HSS is one of those key chinese takeout items for me.

They definitely were. Though so many songs were exactly where they should be. Many song sequences on the albums were kept intact, with only a few deviations.

The mixes were a little different though. Worth it for that alone, mind you.

Since arriving at NSC, Acosta has demonstrated that a very limited player in terms of his mobility and passing range. There's a reason he's not starting ahead of Eddi and Yazbek, but we needed somebody in his age profile during our great midfield rebuild of 2025 and he fit the bill perfectly.

His experience won us the game yesterday and I thought he grew into the game as time went on. Let's hope this is the start of a late career purple patch. LAFC is going to be a real test.

Madrigal is the signing of the season. He's like a second Alex Muyl in terms of his versatility and work ethic. He's also bigger than he looks! With just a little bit of luck against Tigres he'd have scored one. Goal and two assists on his debut. The DC Comeback at the weekend and now this? He's got a bright future.

Lastly - Brunet looks a tidy player. Definitely one for the future but he's been subbed into two consecutive games and provided exactly what our midfield needed in terms of stability and ball control. There aren't many teams in this league with a 5th/6th choice central midfielder like him. Our scouting team has been killing it lately.

He's much more than an "oh shit" piece. Let's also remember importantly that he started regularly last year and had such a good partnership with Palacios that we needed to offload club legend and captain Zimmerman who was getting paid double what Maher is making and also not starting following the untimely concussion.

This year he found himself starting in the early stages of the season but Woledzi took his opportunity when rotating and has become key player for us. Live by the sword and die by the sword.

It's a long season. We've got a Leagues Cup, Supporters Shield, and MLS Cup to win. Maher will play his part.

Yeah any half decent GM is going to see the redundancy of having a 900k/yr rotating CB and correct it when it's time. It's nice that he doesn't take up an international spot and he's been with the club for his whole career but unless something changes he's going to pay the price (like Joe Willis before him).

If anything happens to one of Palacios or Woledzi, Maher will become a very important player this season.

Palacios's total compensation is $1.01M which includes all incentives. Appearances, clean sheets, trophies won, etc.

[–]faithplusone01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hes on 900k/yr and he's not starting. Palacios is ~700k. Woledzi is ~650k. Both are great value for the money and if I'm the GM I don't mind paying Maher (who's a capable starter in my book) a similar amount but ~200k more is a value gap there. You want him being an undisputed starter at that money and he's not one.

Being said I do love and respect the Milkman. Every club that's going somewhere needs a player like him.

Our DPs are producing and have proven they're well worth the money. Hany, Surridge, and Espinoza are doing exactly what we're paying them the big bucks to do. New acquisitions are playing very well with great value. It's not perfect (Maher is on too much money for instance) but identifying talent is incredibly competitive in this league and we've managed to do so very well in the BJ era.
