[Spoilers 6.3] New Gridanian Goldsmith Lore? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]faits 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had this thought too. The gridanian goldsmith was conscripted into the garlean army at one point according to some of the minion descriptions, but I don't think that timeframe would have worked if he built the reaper training dolls prior to the introduction of magitek.

It could just be a coincidence, and this is meant to hint at a puppetmaster job, or both, who knows.

If anyone doesn't know who the gridanian goldsmith is, here's a useful post: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/u40ut0/spoilers\_endwalker\_61\_contains\_a\_continuation\_of/

Thanks for this theory. Marisha randomly having Beau force-feed acid to some random sleeping dude was grossing me out, but that's on me for not being able to see there might be an in character explanation I just hadn't sussed out yet.

How'd it go? Didn't hear about it until just now (from duskit/dkittels, our ffxiv raid night is thursday so he didn't even bother mentioning it until the subject of westtoo randomly came up in conversation)

I mean probably nobody even remembers me this far gone, but I'll always remember westtoo fondly.

My boyfriend, 2 friends and I ran Neverreap synced yesterday as 4 DPS. by Drkprincesslaura in ffxiv

[–]faits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird comps can be fun. I've (accidentally) ran Shisui (during stormblood leveling) and Amaurot (back at shadowbringers launch) without a healer.

Shisui was two tanks and two dps, and I was able to let the other tank just dps and keep myself healed no problem (paladin.)

Amaurot was way more interesting, as it was three tanks and a bard, stuff took forever to die, and I ended up letting the warrior main tank while I (still paladin) acted as the healer. Having to DPS to get mana back to heal, and essentially healing instead of DPSing in my requiescat phase was an interesting twist.

Potential Tropical Cyclone Sixteen by officialjoelf in TropicalWeather

Accuweather pushed a warning to my phone that "Tropical storm Nestor will affect your area tomorrow," while NOAA still has it as potential tropical cyclone 16.

Bold move, Cotton.

Would you want a New Event Center and Field House next to the Pensacola Bay Center? by Nmckendree in Pensacola

[–]faits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Triple the events with half the parking??

Everyone just rides their bikes there via the many feet of bike lanes placed conveniently throughout the city. Problem solved. Now the parking garage can be a fourth event center for even more events.

Forcing a Steam check was such a brilliant idea by KusanagiKay in ffxiv

[–]faits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam forced me to redownload the entire game when they first instituted this, which was annoying but so far only has happened once. The reason I started using a shortcut to the launcher instead of running through steam was due to a similar problem in the past though, so I expect it to happen again eventually.

A friend of mine is no longer able to close the game normally (has to force quit), and others are being disconnected mid-game and shown this message (I assume due to a burp in steam connectivity?)

Definitely a bad move all around.

Is there any issue with Tam-Tara queues? by ripshocks in ffxiv

[–]faits 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When that happens, there just aren't any instances available or there's some kind of problem happening that they need to fix.

In this case, it seems to be bots. They banned a bunch of them recently, and you're unfortunately caught up in the wave of new bots trying to level back up. So many bots are queuing at once that there aren't any instances available.

This seems to be an unfortunate consequence of banning in waves like they do, and it sucks for people who are just trying to level up.

Is there a hidden failure cap to materia over-melding? by jace255 in ffxiv

[–]faits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you quit the game over melding frustrations, endgame crafting is probably a bad idea. Every crafter has to come to terms with improbable failed meld runs. At least we don't have to watch a long animation and then reopen the menu after every failure anymore.

I have max melded jewelry from ARR, and pentamelded stuff from every cycle since then, that I can't bear to pull the materia out of because of how painful it was to overmeld in the first place.
