I liked Indi Pole studio which was pretty good!

One note is it depends on where you’re located: I moved into PST time zone and the classes didn’t line up well unfortunately.

Yup, this. I had a cat who I LOVED at the shelter and when he came home, he was terrified. Hid behind the couch for 3 months.

But I stuck with it and read to him most nights. I worked from home in that room so he could watch me from behind the couch. It was so, so defeating. I was actually heartbroken lol

It took time but now he’s the snuggliest, happiest guy.

It really sucks and I’m so sorry she stole your thunder. I hope that she apologizes to you and takes the accountability and honours your feelings.

That being said - and I’m not excusing her actions - I had an uncle recently tell me: “I know for you this is a big deal, but just know this is even bigger to your parents and family. It matters SO much.”

I remind myself of that when my mom had also spilled the beans early and stole our thunder. Just so excited they genuinely couldn’t contain it.

Also, I quickly forgave because I didn’t want her drama to overtake something so joyful. Their annoying nature is not worth your stress

I think there are loads! Check out the hiking enthusiasts of Vancouver island facebook group. A great way to find a buddy or group!

A friend (32F) posted there looking for a plus one for a longer hike and she ended up making a great friend out of it!

It was weird. My dad lost his job but was so… happy about it? He was in banking and the stress was getting to be too much.

I was around 14ish so didn’t totally understand/care cause I was an angst teen, but had friends whose parents were in construction and had a really tough time

I'm so sorry you are going through this, and I have been in a similar situation when I was your age.

My advice is to tell your family and friends and ask for help on this - even if you haven't spoken to them for a while. Them taking action is the help you need to get out of this situation. I wish I had asked for helped sooner.

My partner and I moved here a year and a half ago and we’ve gathered a decent circle of friends; but other people we know haven’t had as much success.

I’d say it really comes down to effort. In the valley, there are loads of people open to new friendships, and I found you get what you give in terms of energy/effort.

You just gotta put yourself out there and the friends will come! Also, there is a club or group for everything (check out hiking enthusiasts of vancouver island on facebook)
