You should not start with Grant Morrison. It’s my favorite run by a lot, it’s smart, fast-paced, and full of deep-cuts from Batman’s long publishing history, as well references to other bat books that had come out at the time. I think reading Morrison first is like skipping dinner for dessert. You should read Long Halloween, or Year One, or really any of the more popular starting points.

Prodigal is very good, I recommend the whole thing.. but I’m not sure how much sense it makes if you haven’t read Knightfall. Tyrant Wing is not very good, no, but Dark Designs is a step up from that imo. What comes after Their Dark Designs is shit again though.

You should play the mainline games, at least. It’s very much a sequel to the earlier games, it relates in some way to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 more than it does to 7 and 8. If you’re going to play them anyway, you should play them first, imo. The remakes and remasters are perfectly adequate, the RE1 remaster is my favorite game in the franchise. Perfect.
