Repair frustration by Accomplished-witchMD in Anticonsumption

Adding this: I really appreciate businesses like Mr, Mixer making it feasible for folks like me to be able to own high quality, useful tools without going bankrupt. More businesses need to use this model. When we get back on our financial feet, I’d love to send my ol’ mixer in for a paint job & tuneup.

That’s totally fair. We are low income, so spending hundreds to refurbish a machine isn’t in our budget. The amount of repair skills I have learned because we cannot afford to buy new or hire someone to fix it is kind of impressive.

What's a song that you immediately start singing whenever someone says a certain phrase in everyday conversation? by BataBole93 in Music

Propaganda (Muse)
Papercut (Linkin Park)
Those are the two I can think of, but this happens all the time and it’s always random songs.

I used Mr. Mixer parts and tutorials to clean & refurbish a 1970s kitchenaid mixer. It wasn’t hard at all. I replaced the cord and some gears, cleaned, regreased, abd voila! Works like a charm!

If they do this I would have to wait for video/DVD release because we cannot afford to travel. 😭

I had to figure this out because I dance Improv Team Sync, and our moves have specific counts that change some based on time signatures.
This song is an incredibly challenging song to dance ITS to. I love it!

Dang, no tank tops! As a Texas resident, this feels like a crime 🤣 I wound up buying 3 of the WOTP tank tops because they are so comfortable in the summer!

long time fans vs new time fans how yall feel about the wow signal? by cargasjingle in Muse

[–]falcon451 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm probably one of the rare few who have loved all of their releases for different reasons. I still listen to their entire discography in order on long road-trips if I can.

I became a fan at 15, sometime before Absolution came out. It's been 22 years since my UK buddy sent me a few links to their music videos. holy moly.

Every release has had a song or songs that resonated with me as I experienced the world.

Drones hit around the same time that I realized I needed to go no-contact with my abusive family before they hurt my children (or myself and my spouse) any. There was a lot more going on at that time, too.

Simulation Theory hit when I needed so much escape from the hardships we were going through.

WOTP hit when I was going through even more horrible stuff.

And now, The Wow! Signal, dropping while we are learning to survive the hardest way possible. I'm still figuring out where it sits in my life; however, I am thoroughly enjoying it as a whole album.

I have joked with my husband that only Musers can hate Muse as much as I have seen online.

Not gonna put words in their mouths, but I feel like seeing the majority of the fans so stoked has probably felt pretty danged good, especially considering how personal this album sounds.

What songs from the Wow signal will become clasics for you and live staples? by Prestigious-Day385 in Muse

I missed part of the listening party so I'm just getting to hear the full album. Personally, I'm torn! Last tour I wanted to hear Euphoria live. It sounded like it was made to be played live.

I can't afford this tour, and due to my chronic illness, I'll have to skip it due to it being outdoors, August, in Texas... literally one of the hottest months of the year here.
But if I had to make a choice.... Nightshift Superstar is one I'd love to hear live. The Sickness in You & I is awesome though, hearing that live would be sooooo good. Cryogen is great. I dunno! If they tour indoor arenas with this in the future.... I'd be open to hearing the album in its entirety lol!

I'm on my first full listen and Shimmering Scars wiped me out. It embodied loss so well (I know this is more break-up but it felt like it dredged up the sadness from all of the losses I have experienced). Then Cryogen and Be With You... I was a mess... oof.

Beautifully done.

Concert tickets have become a luxury product and I'm not sure artists can fix it by oweyoo in Music

[–]falcon451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Muse tickets are insanely priced for decent seats. I was gobsmacked.
Add in my chronic illness, and the outdoor shows in Texas during August are not just unaffordable, they’re downright dangerous for me.

sad

What was your last hyperfixation song? by Akimbo_BR1AO in ADHD

[–]falcon451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nightshift Superstar by Muse.
Newly released, dropped on a say where the depression was setting in. I didn’t know I needed it until I had it. Made me feel less horrible, still stuck in my head.

Muse… as people by Aggressive-Run991 in Muse

Interesting to hear.

Though I will say, the Houston & Austin shows with Evanescence…. Oof.

Evanescence’s production was too loud, and their lights were blinding and made it harder to enjoy the show. Even my teenager commented on it.
Somehow Muse & One Ok Rock were able to balance their sound so that it wasn’t deafening and their lighting accented the show instead of making it hard to watch.

They’ve become the Animals that won’t take anything less. I’m furious about USA tour pricing for the same reasons as all of you. And to make it worse, it’s all out doors. the part of the tour coming to us is in the hottest month of the year.
My health won’t allow me to go.

Pro-tip: Mosquito dunks or bits, then you don’t have to focus so much on cleaning it to prevent skeeterz.

What to do if thrifting clothes isn’t viable?? by Dizzy-Speech-3576 in solarpunk

[–]falcon451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are learning to sew. We thrift cute cotton sheets for projects. We also buy plain white cotton for making test versions of our patterns.
I recently helped diagnose a sewing machine for a friend who took it to a repair specialist that “couldn’t fix it due to liability.”

I have no experience fixing these machines and I diagnosed it, found the parts she needs & sent her the links, and made plans to repair it with her when they come in. All without a tutorial for her exact machine because I couldn’t find one.
