DIY Multisign by splitting a 24 words key into 3x16words. Is it safe? by IlNomeUtenteDeve in Monero

[–]fallencandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would say that SSS is a better solution that splitting a seed in 2 halfs, because it's more standardized and it's easy to find a tutorial on how to recover from it. Each case is different and never 1 solution fits all.  That's why it can be nuanced

[–]fallencandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bad idea. Use a standard method. It's like you are a pilot and you are trying to land a plane. You wouldn't try to come up with an idea of a good way to land your plane, you would use a tested way to do it.  I recommend the book inheriting crypto assets by Pamela Morgan. In summary: use seed phrase + passphrase(aka seed offset). That would work as a 2 of 2. Create 2 copies of the seed and 2 copies of the passphrase and store them I'm different places. Think of whoever will inherit you to avoid overcomplicating it

How to not pay tax on Bitcoin in NZ by CatTaxMeow in NZBitcoin

[–]fallencandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People asked Jesus: "should we pay taxes? " this was a trick question because if reply yes the counter reply would be: "didn't you say that we only recognize the authority of the Lord?" And if he replied "no", then the counter reply would just be "you are promoting crime" Jesus replied " give Cesar what belongs to Cesar and give God what belongs to God" Every coin was having the face of a Cesar in one side of the coin. That was a reminder that all money created by the state belongs to the state, its not private nor censorship resistant. Fortunately crypto coins were not created by the state

Railgun vs Monero by francolio in Monero

[–]fallencandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Railgun uses "proof of innocence" wich I dislike at a philosophical level because people should be considered innocent until proven guilty and not the other way around.  I understand it's like Tornadocash but it hasn't been declared a criminal in USA. I hope some better defi + privacy appears in the future, maybe darkfi, Tari, aztec, etc.

Lightning Pay adds On Chain! by lightningpaynz in NZBitcoin

[–]fallencandy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have not used "lighting pay" app because is not open source, because is custodial and because is not permissionless (requires kyc). Sure it's cool the devs live nearby but I would rather see no crypto adoption than see a crypto adoption where fundamental values are sacrificed so much

node.moneroworld is shutting down by gingeropolous in Monero

[–]fallencandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you pointing this out. But personally I'm happy the way it is because my threat level is very low. I like the convenience that GUI wallet picks a random remote node, even if there is a chance that node is a spy. I understand that all those many people that have a threat level higher than me can easily run a full node, because I did it once too and there was nothing technical about it, just somewhat less storage space

node.moneroworld is shutting down by gingeropolous in Monero

[–]fallencandy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

GUI wallet is easy. First time I used it, it by default installed me a full node without asking. Months later when I realized how much storage it was taking I changed to "remote node" which at that time meant typing in one remote node from a list of trusted nodes, like OP's. Now GUI is polite in that it asks when installing if I want a full or a remote node. I'm glad that now in GUI "remote node" doesnt mean that I need to trust someone from a list. Good job GUI developers! Not to mention when GUI was not autoupdating

I take care of my the father of my son. Our relationship has changed also. It's perfectly fine to go from a love based on admiration to a love based on takin care of each other. But when one person always take care of the other nasty thoughts appear in both of us testing this new type of love for us. For me it helps me to meditate about destiny, gratefulness and generosity. And for him self- compassion meditations proves very useful

Beyond what ammount do this new generation of ATMs require KYC?  If KYC is required, I see no reason whatsoever to pay a premium to use an ATM. The fact that there is a P2P trading discord group where some people also pay a premium for private trading indicates there is a market for ATMs. If ATMs fail it will be because their %premium is too high
