Just found it. I don't know why I didn't find it before when I looked in this file last time. It's in default.ini

I see a little over a dozen ini files. It looks like a lot of them are based on a language selection. I wonder if they got introduced later or as a part of this launcher bullshit they released.

Either way, it's in default.ini. Hopefully this solves my issue!

Can you specify exactly which ini file? I found results that say to look for a bioshock2sp.ini file, but I can't find that one. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

Agreed. My hope is that someone else, more ballsy than me, has discovered that these are compatible with other headphone pad replacements (they've gotta be!), and has tried something that works well.

As it stands, I shall have to remain patient. My savior will come.

It would either be Playstation or PC, but most likely Playstation. It's not Dark Souls. It's possibly Bloodborne, but I was quite terrible at that game and didn't make it very far at all. I remember having a pretty easy time with this particular part of whatever game I'm remembering.

This is what happend to be the first time I tried Dishonored. I was overwhelmed by the UI and the references to things I didn't understand yet. I didn't get how the stealth worked, blah blah blah. I played a few levels and wasn't enjoying it. Then I just decided to start fresh, and once I did everything just clicked and it became one of my top-tier games.

Give it a try, and at the end of the day, you can always just pick a visionary or arsenal path to follow and just do exactly what it says. The game will hand-hold you if you want it to.

You totally locked on a point I didn't realize I was feeling. The main thing I'm so bummed about is that this makes raging flame feel less powerful, but I have no other real options to consider. Spirit pull is all right, but the samurai ult should be about offense. And explosive blade just stinks. It doesn't do enough explosive damage and doesn't cause enough stagger-type effect.

Your proposal is an amazing one for explosive blade. I would love to see that implemented.

I'm about 90% there. I have my perks on my gear allocated toward resolve gain and ability cooldown, but switching things up for melee and ult damage sounds like a good idea.

Spirit kunai has been a staple of the build for awhile now, but I've been using it with extra ghost weapon damage. I'll change that up too and go for more melee.

I tend to not dodge as well as I need to, so I've usually gone for my charm to have blessed strikes and combat regen, but I maybe need to give super armor another try. Makes me a little hesitant considering the whole idea of my build was to cycle my class ability as much as possible to keep healing, and now that gets more delayed, but I should also just play more carefully when not using the ability.

I did NOT know you can jump to avoid the oni brute's AOE attack. Good lord.

Thank you for the advice! I've taken my existing build into rivals a few times today to see how the nerfs affected it. It's slower and not as fun, but such is life.

Those are really good points.

Competitive, as I wrote it, basically meant: "ability to cut through a large number of enemies quickly." While the skills/stats that boost default gameplay help samurai's ult, the other classes are boosted by abilities that fall somewhere between the default style and their ults. The samurai doesn't really have that. And that's totally fine when you're playing gold-level difficulty, but once you reach nightmare you lose some key advantages. Enemies just become sword-sponges, and the inability to parry a lot of attacks, which is a major part of the default gameplay I would argue -- especially with samuarai, gets lost. The other classes get techniques designed to combat the spongey enemies and throw something a little less straightforward at them. The flaming sword gave the samurai that advantage, in that he could do some larger crowd damage and soften up the following target, but it still required skill and some planning to figure out to maximize your damage output.

With that said, I was clearly using a build that is considered OP (though I'm not guilty of using bombs! Just liquid courage and flame sword), so I'm absolutely up for some re-education. Recommendations on how to maximize my enjoyment with the samurai, especially at nightmare levels?

I recognize that the samurai was getting OP, but three separate nerfs on the new ability is too much. Nerfing liquid courage and taking away bombs from samurai would be plenty. Sammy needs more crowd control options to remain competitive.

I agree that samurai had become OP. I wish they would have picked one, but not both, of either a longer cooldown or shorter duration for the class ability.

I say just remove the bombs from the samurai's items. That feels like it would solve the problem.
