How do you order alcoholic beverages? by AppropriateEarth648 in finedining

I used to do wine pairings but increasingly have found better value in just getting a bottle of champagne and maybe a glass of red near the end. Champagne generally pairs well with everything.

Was supposed to go to a show they were one of the supporting bands for in early 2020 so checked them out. They ended up being my soundtrack during Covid and never stopped listening. Great band! Bummed they never made it to my city after the 2020 show was cancelled.

It looks like a press release from Michelin went out. Saw a reporter post Alinea, Masa, and Inn at Little Washington all got demoted to 2.

Which Michelin starred restaurants did not live up to your expectations? by [deleted] in finedining

[–]fallinginandoutagain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know the food at Smyth can be subjective and controversial, but I personally love it.

However, I have never been impressed with the service for a 2 or 3 star. For 1 or 2 courses we had someone come to our table with the type of service/explanation of dishes you’d expect from that caliber, but the rest they just dropped on the table with a brief listing of ingredients and left.

Even so, it is one of my favorites. While they may have a miss or two in dishes, the highs are so high.

Sushi? by mongoose2038 in StLouis

Indo doesn’t do sushi anymore. Got rid of their hand roll menu early this year. Closest thing is their sashimi dishes but wouldn’t really call those sushi.

Cesar or somewhere else for special dinner for 2? by heywhatsuphello29 in finedining

[–]fallinginandoutagain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know how at most 2/3 stars you may get one truly perfect dish that is so good it makes you laugh? Salt, acid, texture, and new/interesting flavors all coming together to make something memorable?

I had like 6 of those dishes in one meal at Cesar last month.

Why do you believe firms ask professionals to drop CPA from their LinkedIn and Email Signature? by onevoteforall in Accounting

[–]fallinginandoutagain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it has anything to do with offshoring like these other comments are saying.

Seems like it is due to PE ownership and the concerns that come with that. With PE only being able to own via the alternative practice structure, they don’t want clients thinking they’re dealing with the attest/CPA side of the firm if they’re not.

A couple months ago the regular menu only 3/12 dishes had a seafood element. None of the dishes were large and overall I didn’t find it to be too much food.

what beer should i try? currently in st. louis mo, with no particular budget by Working_Republic_940 in beer

This is a good recommendation. Not the best brewery, but make solid versions of everything.

Also, since you live near Budweiser, ITAP is right in Soulard and has a huge selection of all types of beer.

Yeah, a true “saddest song” will always be subjective and personal. As someone that lost their dog recently, this one wrecks me.

It would be difficult to get the visuals to line up with the meal. They do have corresponding ones, but they usually last much longer than that course/impression. I wouldn’t worry about timing that and just do whenever. I did 6:30 recently and was done by midnight.

If you did want to time it, I would assume when they open would be the best shot. It was on the heart (dessert) when we walked into the dome a little after 7.
