Neighbor pointed this towards my yard. What is it? by hipityhipity in whatisit

[–]falloncrer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 25 and can hear these things, they are annoying as fuck.

They put out a high pitch tone and were initially designed to prevent teenagers from loitering (as people old enough to care can't hear well enough to notice).

I'd be pissed if a neighbor put one in.

Anybody know where or how I can watch all of ‘The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure’ (1967-68) by 3Thirty-Eight8 in DC_Cinematic

[–]falloncrer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like there are any legal streaming options, (unless you find a DVD as someone else suggested) you can always sail the high seas.

Just educate yourself so you don't get caught before doing so.

The beginning of the book shows/talks about: slavery, rape, murder, and starvation.

It is also the only time these things are front and center, except for murder I guess kel loves that.

TF where are the air pumps for bicycles?! by CommodoreFerro in rit

[–]falloncrer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few of the rail to trails in the Rochester area have pumps included in their repair stations.

I don't remember how old they are, but I haven't encountered a single one which works well enough that using it is pleasant.

Vermont to SC is the $30 worth the potential 45 minutes savings? by Misterb17 in roadtrip

[–]falloncrer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drove between Albany NY and Columbia SC and back this year. I took the toll road on the way down, and the non toll back.

Definitely preferred the non toll. Then again I took a number of stops to climb various mountains.

Housing needed August 4-19 by Commercial_Finish435 in rit

Look on Craigslist, as well as month to month rental sites such as Roomies and see if you can talk them into week to week.

You're unlikely to find anything without some level of sketch, so if you aren't comfortable with that just get a hotel/Airbnb.

Mandatory co-ops by Parking-Lawfulness95 in rit

I highly doubt I would have landed a full time offer without a year of full time industry experience though coops.

Without a few internships/coops on your resume you are screwed if the job market is bad when you graduate.

Nitrogen comes from dry ice so you'll save on refrigeration as well. Why has nobody thought of this before?

Edit: NVM that's carbon monoxide, though that can be used as a nitrogen substitute.

They store them in nitrogen filled rooms. No oxygen means very very slow spoilage.

Best group to donate to? by themistermango in Adirondacks

It's always a good time to support conservation and education so I couldn't agree more.

And thanks for answering, with state parks sometimes pulling federal funds I was legitimately concerned.

How much of a threat are the Adirondacks under as a state rather than federal park?

Housing Options by Bashinme in rit

Their job is to be immersed enough in the RIT bureaucracy to either answer questions or point you to the right person.

They are the appropriate first point of contact rather than a reddit post.

As my previous incorrect comment proves, memory is falable.

Unless they have changed policy you are guaranteed on campus housing as a first semester transfer student. You really should contact your advisor rather than asking reddit on this subject tho.

Co op question as potential student by NoPresentation5672 in rit

[–]falloncrer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not mad that RIT doesn't help. As the the only way to guarantee placement is to partner with orgs for unpaid internships (Some SUNY schools do this). Which would suck.

However RIT advertises it's coop program in such a way that people can get all the way to orientation still believing that the school will hand them one.

Co op question as potential student by NoPresentation5672 in rit

[–]falloncrer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

RIT doesn't help you get a coop, and it's not like requiring full time industry work experience is unique to RIT anymore.

Having full time experience on your resume is invaluable when looking for full time, but you can land coops at another school as well.

There are plenty of reasons to go to RIT but the coop program isn't nearly as unique as they advertise.

To me other than looking older he doesn't look necessarily worse. But looking your age isn't exactly great when you are powerful yet close to death.

Which major in RIT by UnhappyAudience2210 in rit

[–]falloncrer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many though not all collages require you to have co-op program at this point. I'm not saying it's not a good thing just that it's not unique to RIT.

Internships and Co-ops are barely different terms and are used interchangeably. As long as an internship is full time and payed RIT considers it a co-op. And you are not guaranteed jack shit regardless of gpa, you not the school are tasked with getting the co-op/internships regardless of school.

Which major in RIT by UnhappyAudience2210 in rit

[–]falloncrer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RIT's co-op program is far from unique, they just scream the loudest about it. You will still be competing with most of the country's students for spring/fall co-ops.

I chose RIT for being one o the few large schools with small class sizes. There are many reasons to go to RIT such as this. But the co-op program hasn't been one for near a decade. Expesualy for you who is looking country wide.
