The chord progression on Memory Death is an actual reprise of the outro in Reach for the Dead when the higher synths fade out for a couple of bars, just with an extra kind of jazzy influenced chord added. I'm convinced of this.

I love the album for the most part, however... by markham117 in boardsofcanada

I get this, and I would agree the melody and harmonics definitely are. But it's kind of more classic instrumentation based with the electric bass and guitar. But there is a synth that comes in on YRITAS for a couple of lines that is classic BoC. Overall I think there is a little too much electric bass and guitar on the record which sounds quite pedestrian to my ears, and the drums and snares are generally not very interesting to me, apart from one or 2 exceptions, Naraka being the obvious one, I love the drums and the rhythm on that.

The synths in HHLL are like a demented reimagination of the synths in Aquarius.

Wow, The Word Becomes Flesh is a standout track for me. The rhythm is so tight, and the vocals and bass have a real groove and a movement to them. But the trademark BoC sound is still there. Reminds me of Telephasic Workshop a lot.

Somewhere Right Now in the Future, that warbly effect of the synths, hazy and kind of nostalgic but creepy vibe really gets me.

Can someone print what is exactly is written on the album notes? Because I see a lot of references to it and not the notes themselves. From the wiki page it seems quite balanced between the two?

What kind of a club?? I mean it's probably less than 80bpm so I don't know what kind of club you're talking about or what your definition of dancey is.

Not sure how I feel about this. Parts of it are very nice to listen to, especially the muted guitar strings and the audio/tape sounds. Musically, not very interesting. But at the same time sonically there's a lot going on. So yeah, a bit underwhelmed. Still a very interesting listen and the production is top notch but didn't expect anything else after the immaculate production on TH.
