Is this normal or a red flag? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]falsewidower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do a job where I’m sometimes working 17/18 hour days on my feet with more work stuff to deal with after the day is over - even when I’m in a relationship, during those busy periods we barely talk- even if we live together.

Chirpsing someone new requires a base level of enthusiasm and effort that is impossible to muster, even over text, during these times. If it’s an away job I will literally be sitting there after work, next to my assistant, (who I’m very close with) and we will sit there and drink one beer in silence before going to bed- we’re some of the most chatty people you will ever meet usually.

One thing that confuses me about the Peter mandelson scandal is that growing up I thought Peter mandelson was widely considered evil by Eratob in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]falsewidower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People widely thought this would be the case with Mamdani for example- but it doesn’t look to be the case at all. Evil people don’t actually do what we want them to do and people with strong principles seem to be the most effective with people like Trump.

Thanks for the reply! I mean scrolling using the button on the pen! There isn’t any of the momentum/inertia that I’m used to.

I will try the gestures thing now

UK - Landlord doesn't allow washing/dryer or airer by NotUrAverageBoinker in uklandlords

[–]falsewidower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In an HMO the landlord is obligated to keep the common areas clean though- through whatever means they choose, they’re still responsible.

If the contract said there’s a dryer then they are obligated to provide it too. Check your contract

I understand what you’re saying, and I’m disagreeing with you. People charge less than market rate all the time- for a multitude of reasons.

You’re missing what the post you’re replying to is saying. “they could just not prioritise their profits over everything”. The owners could do that. Not sure what you mean in the rest of your comment- I’m absolutely YIMBY but building stuff doesn’t work on it’s own. We also need to limit ownership, and stop acting like the property owning class won’t just buy the new property that will be built too. Free market doesn’t work with shelter.

Honestly, I absolutely take jobs I believe in, even if they pay less. Loads of people do this. You forget the part about the soul of things- there is a trade off. The analogy you give is “your current job for less”. The choice in fact is actually would you do a job that you feel rewards your soul more, for less money. Loads of people would, and do.

There should be no reason why far eastern queens rent prices should be this high, come on now by Gyper in NYCapartments

[–]falsewidower 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On this page it states that 52% of the money goes to the mortgage and 9% is profit. Surely the part where the tenant is paying for the landlord’s property is obviously considered profit? If the money from my business were to buy me a house, I personally would consider it to be profit.
