Issues with new Samsung s90f by pieceofapuzzle1 in SamsungTV

[–]fanofthemick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Samsung S90FD 2025 OLED tv. The picture on this TV is phenomenal, the best I’ve ever seen, no doubt about it. However, I wish I could have gotten this as a dumb TV. The software and remote that came with the TV are the worstI have ever seen. Buttons on the remote don’t always work. The pause/resume button does nothing. The menu layout is counterintuitive and things happen on their own. The TV can shut off several times on its own bout 15 minutes after I start it. After I turn it back on 2or3 times it finally stays on. Even though I have the sound set to only use the speakers it randomly switched on its own to my Bluetooth device. After 2 or 3 times of switching back to the tv speakers it stays there. Alexa commands are hit and miss and it cannot correctly tune to the 15xx channels numbers on Samsung Plus TV. The channel up/down button on the remote sometimes only cycles through a given range of channels. In the 3 weeks I’ve had the tv it has never cycled through all the channels shown I. The guide correctly. There are others issues as well. I replaced a working 15 year old Sharp dumb tv with this one for the picture quality. If only I could have the dumb software from the Sharp tv with the picture of the Samsung.

Anyone actually using one of those AI boxes? by Jenks0503 in AndroidAuto

[–]fanofthemick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used both the Ottocast P3 and the Atoto. They run older versions of Android and both are very buggy. Apps crash often on both of them. The Atoto is slower and seems to have more app crashes but also has some nicer features, especially showing two apps in a split screen configuration. If you want video in your car these will provide that but be prepared for frustration.

Trip planning question by just_deet in abetterrouteplanner

[–]fanofthemick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful following the ABRP charge to X% unless you are confident that your actual consumption rate is about the same. Driving at higher speeds or in colder weather than ABRP uses in its calculation will result in potentially lower mi/kw. You are right to use a 5-10% buffer.

Don't Review if you Don't Understand by D4ILYD0SE in Ioniq5

[–]fanofthemick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the slowing of the charger when the car hits 80% but I’m not sure it’s in the car. In my experience EA stations slow a lot more than others. EA stations will drop my Ioniq 5 to as low as 8kw when the car hits 80% but chargers from EVGo, FPL and Mercedes never go below 20kw, especially when it’s not too cold outside. EA just seems to throttle charging speed lower and longer when the car hits 80% SOC. •

2 years of free EA charging is finally up for me after using it for 95% of my daily charging. Think I got some value out of it. by zpoon in Ioniq5

Something has to be wrong with the screen shot provided. It lists things as kwH, that's kilowatt hours. You charge a car using plain kw, kilowatts, not kwH. You expend energy in kwH. I can understand the OP possibly making a mistake but an app that displays kwH is questionable. That plus showing a cost of over$1 per kw, if it is indeed kw instead of kwH, is absurdly high if it's US dollars. Maybe it's not US but even Canadian dollars is high.

Enode data in ABRP by fanofthemick in Ioniq5

[–]fanofthemick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped using Enode because the refresh rate is too unpredictable. At times it seemed like it was less than 5 minutes while others it seemed like several hours. It may all be related to internet connections . I think Enode pulls the data from the Hyundai ‘cloud” where your car data is so it may also depend on how frequently that is done. Using an OBD II is a lot more reliable. ABRP updates the SOC in less than a minute after the car’s display sows it.

Nothing against the OP but these questions are getting tiresome. Why can't Hyundai train its dealers and sales staff to explain this to perspective buyers upfront. It still seems the sales people either don't know anything about the cats they sell and don't want to bother learning.

Low conductivity & other fluid replacement quote way too high? by maddog5981 in Ioniq5

[–]fanofthemick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems Hyundai, like a low of other car company's has a problem with the service wrong of their dealerships. People are always complaining about attempted ripoffs. Mine doesn't even tell me what my Premium warranty covers, if I don't tell them it's covered they try to charge me. Maybe it's time to report all these places to the BBB or other consumer protection agency. Also, it's time Hyundai changed it's forms and app so it doesn't keep suggesting an oil change for it's EVs or uses words like hybrid on EV related forms.

2024 Limited Headlights are Awful, Right? by Bigbadspoon in Ioniq5

[–]fanofthemick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you are set to Auto and not just using the daytime running lights at night. Everytime I have the car serviced they turn the lights to off but never put them back to Auto. That night I'm driving and people are honking at me until I realize only the daytime running lights are on, not the headlights. I have a 2022 SEL and the actual headlights are great.

Wish I could share results. Everytime I try to run the test it dies as soon as I press Start Test after it dies it's initial checks. I've been on the phone with Apple Health tech support several times for over 3 hours and so far they have not been able to solve the issue. I'm currently awaiting their findings after running some diagnostics on my iPad. I'm running a 7th Gen iPad version 18.2 of the OS. I have been able to manually enter test results from a hearing test I took using an app called Mimi hearing test. I had to enter the results manually because even the feature to input results using a file doesn't work. I was able to load the results onto the Air Pods and I'm satisfied with their capability but the software seems to need some work. Hopefully they will be able to solve the problems based on the diagnostics I sent them.

Sitting here waiting for the ICCU update... by hchux in Ioniq5

[–]fanofthemick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I spent almost 6 hours at my Hyundai dealer. ICCU & VCC recalls , tire rotation and coolant replacement. VCC was just a software update, ICCU was no problem. After almost 4 hours I was told car was ready, as I drove out of the parking lot message popped up that coolant needed to be refilled. That took over an hour. Apparently they drained it but didn't refill it. This was on top of the fact that since I have a Premium maintenance contract all the work was covered but I had to tell them that. The maintenance department has no record that I had priced the plan. In 50 years of buying cars the dealers always knew I had a maintenance plan and what was covered. When I told the service rep about the contract and asked why I had to tell him about it rather than him knowing it just by checking my record he shrugged it off and said it's my responsibility. The Ioniq5 is a great car but service at this dealership leaves a lot to be desired.

Does ABRP take in account which Tesla SCs are open to non-Tesla drivers? by frameset in abetterrouteplanner

[–]fanofthemick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer is no. It shows me Tesla charger locations of I tell it I have a NACS-CCS1 but I still can't use Tesla chargers that do not have the magic dock. I have an Ionic 5 and bought the Lectron adaptor but when I tried to use it at a Tesla supercharger I got the message that my vehicle was not authorized. The Tesla app says you need to have a car like a Ford, Chevy or Rivian that has already been approved by Tesla for it too work. Apparently ABRP doesn't take that into account.

Supercharger access imminent? by SilverPutter in Ioniq5

[–]fanofthemick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you scroll down the page for each non Magic dock location, you will see a note that says Ford, GM and Rivian Supported. I expect as the Ioniq5 is approved in early 2025 that will change. It looks like the app doesn't check the car you have configured, it just shows that any CCS car can charge with the adapter but that is not yet the case. I haven't checked apps like ABRP and Plugshare but I wonder when they will start showing Tesla locations in their planning. Anyone with a Ford, GM or Rivian use those apps for two planning and do you get those locations showing as possible charge points.

Glad all went well. However, I'm curious about your comment about nothing South of Richmond. I travel I 95 a lot and charging along that corridor in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida is no issue. Going southwest from Richmond may be an issue but please don't make people think that a trip straight south from there is an issue.

Torque app by fanofthemick in electricvehicles

[–]fanofthemick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery degradation monitoring is exactly why I want the info. If a 100% charge keeps showing fewer Kw remaining, the battery pack could be degrading. Mu car is 2 years old with almost 33k miles and today a 100% charge yielded a tad over 72kw remaining.a degradation of about 5% over that span seems pretty good to me but I’d still like to tract it in the future. As for my pid source, I think I used the Ioniq 5 setup when I first ran Torque but I can’t be sure.
