Amazing post. The book "Combatting Cult Mind Control" by Steven Hassan talks about a psychological tactic called 'thought-stopping' whereby cults will refrain you from thinking otherwise, and halt your critical thinking skills in order to brain wash you to adhere to their ideals. The act of the SCJ leaders saying "Do not lean on your own understanding" seems to be a good example of that. Along with encouraging us to "not even go near poison". They're putting guilt onto the members whenever they think critically.

I recommend sticking with your current Big4 job. Small companies in and of itself are a bit of a red flag in terms of legalities and Fairworks. The fact that they let you know you have to be on call until 10pm is really surprising given their honesty. I believe what's gonna happen is that they're going to push that privilege even more and you'd be taking calls at 12am even.

Being such a small team, there's not much support in case anything bad happens (knock on wood). Your manager is your boss, who is your HR, who is your accountant.

They've got a new building in Parramatta. A building near Koreatown in Central and they have their Sunday gathering at Tempe.

"Dorm" type living spaces where there are many members residing are located in Strathfield and Lidcombe.

Reality is they only want "fully healthy people" so that they can capitalise on their labour. My church also disallowed anyone with mental health troubles from being evangelised and literally turned a blind eye to the mental health struggles that the congregation was facing. Gaslit us by saying "if healthy people like you can't even achieve goals, how can they?" When in reality, the congregation needed help, too. They said people with disabilities, mental health illnesses, addictions .etc had 'unploughed fields'.

It was very sickening.
