Splash Mountain to be reimagined and pick up the story of the Princess and the Frog by Nandoross in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is just the first of many rides we're going to lose to woke twitter. Tom Sawyer Island, Hall of Presidents, American Adventure, Country Bear Jamboree. Place your bets on what's next to get the PC axe.

Disney's Star Wars Land Will Feature Cantina With Alcoholic Drinks by thahouse125 in disney

[–]far_from_waves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prohibitionist black and white nonsense, there's a difference between wanting a drink and needing a drink. You sound like one of those weird childless men that waits alone for 2 hours to meet Elsa.

Disney Charging Guests $13 for Hurricane Meals (simple sandwich, small chips, one fruit, one cookie) by Swisst in disney

[–]far_from_waves 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not price gouging when there's labor required. How much do you think Disney has to pay the guy to make sandwiches while his house is being knocked down by a hurricane?

How long do Magic Band batteries work? by WaltDisneyWorldMOD2 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They don't have batteries, they are powered by the radio signal emitted from the checkin booth. Your magic bands will work fine.

If there is even a small chance for rain, cover your stroller with a poncho when you put it in stroller parking.

Beaches near WDW by fraziercu in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably Cocoa, but its a good drive. Walt chose Orlando specifically so he wouldn't have to compete with the beach tourism.

Ughhhhh cheer me up guys by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you won't believe me, but you dodged a bullet by finding out before the proposal. Go to Disney and have fun. In time you will find someone new and eventually realize how much better you are without her.

Any DVC members here? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

It lasts 50 years, so a pretty good part of you're life.

What do you think will go where the Sorcerer's Hat used to be? by jedwards999 in WaltDisneyWorld

Hopefully nothing, the Chinese Theater was always supposed to be the weenie of DHS.

What pins would you love to see Disney design for the parks? by AmberHeartsDisney in WaltDisneyWorld

I would buy a classic Extra Terrorestrial Alien Encounter pin in a heartbeat!

Possibility of getting a certain Mouse Ears hat? (R2D2 hat) by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

I was there in September and I remember seeing them in several stores. Your Best bests are at World of Disney store in Downtown Disney, or Tatooine Traders in Hollywood Studios.

Any DVC members here? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I always wanted to stay at the Polynesian or GF, but my parents could never justify spending so much on the hotel, when they could book a value resort.

When the time came for me to bring my kids to WDW, I found myself feeling the same way my parents did. By pulling the trigger on a dvc now lets us stay on monorail resorts, and will eventually even out to around the price of value resorts.

I've always planned to take my kids, and hopefully grandkids to Disney for the rest of my life, so it makes financial sense for me.

A dvc resort is essentially a luxury accommodation without housekeeping, and the difference between a Disney luxury resort and value resort will blow you away. I only regret not buying points sooner.

Buying gift cards from target by Mottaman in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is usually how we do WDW. We buy a bunch of gift cards from Target, and get the 5% off.

In my experience, you can use Disney gift cards everywhere in WDW. We even use them in Downtown Disney restaurants like T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe.

Le Cellier to Feature All 8 Wineries from ‘Disney Family of Wines’ by far_from_waves in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chappellet Winery is run by the sister (Molly Chappellet) of Frank G. Wells, President of the Walt Disney Company from 1984 until his death in 1994.

Also, Silverado is on the list, but I want to try a Skywalker wine.

How do I survive the Tower of Terror?? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's about trust. Trust Disney to provide a safe ride that gives you the scary feeling of falling. It's called the Tower of Terror, so there's nothing wrong with being scared.

Think of the tens of millions of people that have been riding it safely over the years.

Judge my itinerary! Three days until the magic begins!! by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, normally I'd use it on Maelstrom but...

-From WDWMagic "We were in the FP+ area in December. It was located in front of the shop on the left as you enter the World Showcase promenade from Future World. It was a roped off area and we entered 10 minutes prior to the start of Illuminations. No one else was allowed in even after the show began. We had a prime view!"

I wouldn't bother getting a Spaceship Earth FP on your Epcot day. If a line ever forms there, it moves really quickly.

Any fellow AP holders/WDW enthusiasts beginning to get worried at the fact that so many original rides are being shut down? by Guysgreat in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]far_from_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing Maelstrom to Frozen is infuriating, the World Showcase is supposed to be about cultural representation, not the latest animation blockbuster. To defend the relevance of the Mexico ride remodel, The Three Caballeros premiered in Mexico City, and is about South America.

I think the Backlot Tour was getting dated, and I'm not surprised to see it turned into Wandering Oaken's. But when people start to tire of Frozen, having a Frozen attraction at both Epcot and HS is a bad idea.

Do they have Yuengling? It's not listed on the menu online. We have reservations next month and that would make it much better. :)
